Tips for beginner singers:
•for lip trills (bubbles in this case) you don’t want your jaw to be tense. Relax all the muscles in your face and do a little jaw massage and it might get easier for you!!
•drink lots of water to keep your vocal chords hydrated and healthy!!
•if your sick you can still warm up!!! Take a straw (whatever you have works) and alternate between straw and no straw each scale!! (This doesn’t work for lip trills) but basically the straw sends vibrations back to your vocal cords like a massage!!
•to reach higher notes without cracks and weird sounds, you’ll want to start in head voice (airy light feeling)!!!
Hope this helps 💋🫶🏻

Seeing that clip at the beginning made me feel so much better. I've always thought I just wasn't a good singer or that something was wrong with my voice, but after drinking plenty of water and warming up for half an hour, my singing and voice improved so much. Turns out I've been judging myself based on a semi-hydrated and unprepared voice.

James Hatfield, singer for Metallica, one of the biggest rock bands in the world, tells this story all the time. He was blowing out his voice every single night in concert. And this was during their black album tour so they've been huge for over a decade by that point. And he was still breaking his voice every night. Then he got a coach that taught him how to warm up. They made a warmup tape he could sing along to while getting ready back stage. He never had that problem ever again. I think he still uses that same tape even today - 40 something years into their career. I saw a YouTube thing they did back stage before a recent show and there was James, "mi mi mi mi mi-ing". So, it doesn't matter what genre or type of music or voice - warm it up, right?

As someone who loves to sing but has been out of practice (see 18 years out of practice) of actually singing, these warmups not only remind me of WHY I need to warm up, but they also have helped me use my breathing. I’m at work right now and I’m by myself.
I have been told I have a beautiful voice, I just haven’t found any exercises that I have felt comfortable with in doing…until today😂😅

9:55 Hello there! I am a lead singer for a rock band that sings at all ranges covering journey, REO, Speedwagon, queen, etc. Our shows are about three hours long so you could only imagine what this can do to anyone’s voice after one show. I have done a lot of research on YouTube for good vocal coaches and discovered your channel. As a male vocalist I found you are the best that I have researched. I am 54 years old been singing all my life. I love your exercises and technique. It has helped me in such a huge way.. I now sing more relaxed. My range is a lot higher my voice a lot stronger. Thank you so much.. you are awesome!!!!

Oh my goodness, I was finally able to come out of the strained "I don't want to disturb anyone" voice for a moment! It felt so good!! Hopefully I'll be able to do that more because I have my first audition in two weeks and my voice isn't very strong. Years of not wanting to disturb people has really made it hard to come out of that quiet, strained singing 😅

I use this every time I have an audition or a show! This even helps me on those really early mornings! I just closed a show and I used this for EVERY performance! I wish I had this earlier in the rehearsal process! The “beep” exercise is so helpful!

The very first time I watched this like 4 months ago, I couldn't do the lip trills at all. After about a week or two figured out how to do them by placing my hands between my mouth like in 2:46. Now I can freely do them even without the hands. I've been coming back to this everyday, my tone, resonance and range has improved since. Thank you for this!

Incredibly beneficial to do everyday even if you’re not a singer

Hi, I’m here as a physical therapist who wants to see if vocal warm up exercises will release tension in the diaphragm which also loosens the whole spine, hips amd shoulders!!! Chime in (hee hee) if you feel these areas feel looser after this session…it works for me! Best to test how these areas move before and after.
