A member of Parliament who has taken controversial stands on Palestine and A-bomb development is murdered during a routine appendectomy.

The Inspector Alleyn Mysteries is a British detective television series, broadcast on BBC1, adapted from nine of the novels by Dame Ngaio Marsh, featuring the character Chief Inspector Roderick Alleyn. The pilot episode was shown in 1990, with Simon Williams playing the part of Alleyn. Two series followed in 1993 and 1994, with Patrick Malahide replacing Williams in the title role.

1:13:03 the music Nurse Banks is listening to is Sibelius' 2nd Symphony. I recommend it very highly - particularly the 1935 recording of Serge Koussevitzky conducting the Boston Symphony Orchestra, which drew supremely high praise from Sibelius himself.

I know that by the post-war setting of this TV series the Brits had a long history of strict gun laws, but Inspector Allen’s question, “The gun was loaded, WHY?” He might as well have asked, “Why did you load a ribbon into that typewriter, or why would you load film into a camera, or ink into a fountain pen?”

First the mistress loves him to desperation, next moment she absolutely hates him. Make up your mind honey. Emotionally unbalanced, and self-deluding to think her high ranking minister lover will leave his socially influential wife. ( The lovers deserve each other really).
