Is there anyone who did more to develop the language of film than Hitchcock?

No one talks about that Shadow of a Doubt moment! It's one of my favourite of all time.

Great video. Little addendum on repetition in Psycho: in a span of 25 mins, Lila + Norman + Arbogast all enter the house, pause, look in 3 directions, and then make a decision about where to go.

Brilliant analysis, didn't know there was any more for me to learn about Hitchcock.

He was so great! When asked by Dick Cavett who Hitchcock thought was the greatest director of all time, Hitchcock said..."Walt Disney!" Hitchcock said he has no equal. The audience erupted with applause for both men and especially Disney. God bless them both.

Its a tapestry really. Where on one hand you have Hitchcock, on the other, you have John Ford, F.W. Murnau, or Jean Renoir. Each making their own contribution to cinema. Yes, Hitch did a lot to develop it, but there are definitely others who help create, what we now know as cinematic language.

Honestly, you don't need the near constant background music, it just distracts from what you are trying to communicate.

Great video and analysis! I wish you chose a different background music though. It was really distracting.
