Huh! I was not expecting you to do it that way, using a clipping mask. The technique I've seen before is where you start with the finished lettering, and then progressively erase more and more of it. But this way is better since you're not working backwards.

Hiya, thank you so much for the video. I followed it along but when I went to export as a move the background was white not transparent. I tried exporting it as a gif which worked transparently but when converting it back to a mov file the background turns white again! :( any tips on how to export it as a mov with a transparent background?
