Wedding planning has been so much fun and shopping for a dress has probably been the most exciting part for me. I have been looking at different styles and trying to figure out what I want and I found this one on Goodwill online for $10.
I have 3 dresses right now that I am trying to pick between because I CAN'T DECIDE!

If you're wondering if you can thrift for a wedding dress the answer is 100% yes you can. Custom designer gowns are beautiful don't get me wrong, but having a budget is real, and being able to spend more elsewhere is great!

Let me know your thoughts on this dress! I absolutely love it and being able to find it online for $10 is incredible!!

There is a phenomenon that happens with brides....they get SO caught up in the idea of (the fantasy of) perfection that they end up unnecessarily spending thousands on a dress when there often is not much difference. Good for you!

100% agree! No need to buy 1000$ dress. The second one was so beautiful!

Smart girl you look gorgeous in the dress! 41 years ago I took my older sisters$1200 dress and had it altered to fit me. From size 12 to 8. I had the long sleeves depuffed and made the long train into a demi train. It cost me $100. I saved my parents $1100 !!!❤🎉👍👏

I was a Bridal Consultant for 12 years and also am a tailor. First, the Ivory soap does indeed work, need to rub it with a damp soft cloth. Second, you shouldn't be trying to clean it while wearing it and sitting on the floor, just trying to help. Have a wonderful wedding day! By the way, I agree the second dress is a good choice.

Please don't put Satin or silk in the bathtub. Just get it dry cleaned. It may only cost 100 to 150 to get it dry cleaned and have beading reattached. Love the 2nd one and you can get a ivory panel from a bridal shop for the back.

As a clothing reseller, when I find really good wedding dresses in the thrift store, I love the challenge of trying to make them like new again and I love selling them to someone looking for a bargain. I've found designer gowns for under $75, but surprisingly most gowns, under $40. I avoid anything with beads (tend to fall off, impossible to clean without professional help, be missing, hard to replace unique ones), I don't buy anything that's faded, reeks of perfume, or has deep dark stains. Definitely no rips especially in tulle unless it's on a seam, and I avoid super heavy dresses with extremely long trains (hard to store, expensive to ship, you need to lift weights to deal with washing them by yourself).

A good 85% of the time, hand scrubbing stains with dawn soap usually on hems, armpits, underskirts, and bust lines for make-up will get those stains out. Then a couple hours soak in Oxyclean will restore the white to the whitest white, then I will drop them in the largest fine mesh bag I could find on Amazon and wash them on gentle cycle for anything else. Finally a good air dry and steam, and they are good to go. Oxy did discolor some buttons once, but they were easy to replace, but other than that, the dresses are good to go for resale. I've only had to toss a few where stains were either so old and set in nothing budged them, or I discovered some damage where the dress could not be recovered (too costly to have it professionally cleaned or to take a seamstress who would charge more than what I bought it for).

Yes, yes, yes on the second dress! Smart young lady to thrift. Don't understand how some brides-to-be think spending thousands of $ when it's only for one day.

I’ve had a bridal wear obsession for 45 years. I go to the trunk shows, watch the new styles in Barcelona, and simply study each designer and trends. THIS gown grew on you for you! You are STUNNING! Great choice!

Only Jordan would sit on the floor and clean a Wedding Dress. You always make me smile 😊. I wonder if a very pale pink or blue or green insert would look good in the back. My wedding dress cost $100.00 in 1970 at a bougie dress shop. In 1998 my young grandaughter wore it as an Halloween costume. She made into a scary bride look. Guess that was my way of recycling.

ladies and gentlemen is how it's done!

As a single working mother who scrimped and saved for 20 can tell you, you can absolutely look as good and your kids look just as good as those that don't.

Yes, it does take more resourcefulness however in this country the tax is so high it takes $150 to net $100 ....in other words a $1000 is going to cost you at least $1, 500....

Well done

My daughter wore my 31 year old wedding dress for her wedding in 2019. It is your typical 1980s dress. She had it altered and revamped into her taste, corset back, narrowed sleeves. We cleaned it with oxy clean and a hose in the back yard. Then hung it in the sun, all the 31 year old stain came out. The sun bleached them all out. She looked gorgeous on her day. You don't have to spend a fortune to look great.😊
