Great review. Periodic reviews of backup software is an excellent adjunct to your AV reviews. Keep up the good work. Thanks

That is a good method, here is what I do personally:

At the start of each month, I do a clean up of the system, virus scan, and windows update. Once that is done, I will go offline re-boot and clone my main C drive to a backup HDD. Once that is done I will remove the HDD {HDD Dock} and put it in a protective case on a shelf. This way if either malware gets on the system or something corrupts, all I will do is unplug any other drives etc, plug in the backup clone and boot up. It's not perfect IE If malware got in the BIOS but it works for me.

Hey Leo! Thanks for the video!

Speaking of Backup programs, There's a recently released anti-ransomware program called Acronis Ransomware Protection that supposedly uses Behavioural analysis to detect and stop both known and unknown variants of ransomware, and as a a bonus, it can work alongside major antivirus vendors and it offers 5 GB free cloud backup.. That's according to their website anyway. Can you check it and test it out to see if it's actually effective? Thanks for reading!

I've been using CloudBerry for a while, since CrashPlan shut down their consumer offerings. The ransomware protection feature has a problem that you failed to mention, which is false positives. With a real world scenario with hundreds of thousands of files, this can be a real bother. It seems like there have been improvements though, so currently I don't get many false positives. But in my case I use the solution for all my family's computers. If I get false positives for one of my children's computers, handling them is a bit more work, including bothering them during their games or movies, or finding a spot where I'm free and they're not using their computers. This was too much, so I've actually disabled the ransomware protection feature for all computers except my own. The version retention should save the day anyway.

Can you check out the Saturn Ransomware? The Ransomware is fairy recent, i believe it was spotted in the wild in February.

Hi Leo, You could also back up your docs and pics with a flash drive or another hard drive. There are a lot of free cloud sources mega gives you up to 50 GBs of back up absolutely free. Thanks for the info.
