What are your thoughts on patents?

Do you know what the difference is between a provisional and non-provisional patent? What does "patent-pending" really mean? How long are intellectual property rights maintained in the US and Canada and the big one, how much is it gonna cost? I tackle all of these questions in this episode.

DISCLAIMER: I am not an attorney and am not providing any legal advice. I'm simply sharing the things I learned in a consult with a patent attorney.

Don't miss any of my Internet of Things Product Journey:

Thanks so much for watching and if you want to experience even more of the journey here's where you can find me:

I have made an invention BUT my invention requires a few other of already made inventions that are currently out there, E.G lets say hypothetically for my invention to work it must include a radiator and a telephone .... Can i still apply for a patent? What it produces is not out in the public yet as far as i know. thanks

Your attorney charges too much for amendments that’s not affordable. Shop around. Also for the application, that’s really steep for a simple product. To answer your question at the end, patents are only worth it if you believe your product will earn a ton of profit. It’s a risk, but ask everyone you meet if they would buy one or not and why.

I think there needs to be a committee that knows what can be patent and what not can be patent. The reason why it's because the board members in my opinion just read the information that you and your attorney has presented to them on PAPER but it's only paper and they may not know anything about a person patent no matter how much they explain it on a sheet of paper. The paper work is necessary to do and file but I do not think it's fair for a person to spend almost 40k to 50 and especially 14k to do a provisional patent. Here is what I want to see done let the inventor have presentation prototype patent application interview with the board💯👍! Why because like I mentioned earlier you the inventor needs to know what you have invented and know what it does and what a person can do with it; plus a person area of work or study has more stronger opinion on someone on the board that knows nothing about your invention. I'm trying to get my invention going and I know my competition web sites, their products that they are selling making, plus I have found there patents as well. So I think it's better for the committee to do this and if I can write a bill or letter to help with this I will do it/ if u have time can u messages me back here?
