With a good carpet knife and some knee pads, I think people could do this. Looks good with the white molding installed around the bottom.

This explains so much. If you replace your carpet do you have to replace tack strips?

man, those nails will RUIN any decent carpet. maybe not the cheap one in your video, but a nice carpet will get damaged by the nails on your "custom kicker". you know kickers are only $35, right?

i've installed half a dozen carpets in my life, and i am just a computer guy. it's not that hard. ANY job takes some effort. nothing good is ever easy.

you were right though, you will NOT get "professional results" when you do things the way YOU did them...
