At the top of the Extra Help application it says if you have Medicare and Medicaid DO NOT complete the application as you will be automatically enrolled. My Disabled Adult Son (DAC) - receives Social Security DAC benefits based on my work credit history (a type of SSDI) and is already on Maryland state Medicaid (healthcare & waiver program) and is becoming eligible for Medicare on June 1, 2024 after the 24 month SSDI wait period. When he was mailed the Medicare Part A & B card recently he also received from Social Security the application for Extra Help. So I am confused as to whether he has to apply for Extra Help or not, and if he does get automatically enrolled, shouldn't he receive a letter about that? If he does need to fill out the application, does his Maryland ABLE account (a special savings account to protect government benefits for the disabled) get listed as a resource or not? Thanks
