Bob Crosby And His Orchestra 1938

I finally came across a 16mm print of this film after looking for it for decades. I wish it were in better shape, or a 35mm print. The sound track has a huge scratch right through the middle, but I tried my best to still get some enjoyable quality out of it. At least we can now hear Bob Crosby introducing his musicians and see his band perform a few incredible titles. Some of them were used in the compilation "Jazz Ball" from 1956, also available on this channel.
Featured musicians are: John "Yank" Lawson, trumpet, Eddie Miller, tenor sax, Bobbie Haggart, string bass, Ray Bauduc, drums, and singer Kay Weber.
The featured songs are: How D'Ya Like To Love Me, Pagan Love Song, I Fall In Love With You Every Day, Romance In The Dark and South Rampart Street Parade.

Hey, that's my Pop on clarinet and sax -- third from right -- Joey Kearns! He went to the war and then had his own orchestra (Joey Kearns and his orchestra). Man, he looks so young and happy...thanks for getting this film up for us.

He was quite handsome and a lot better looking than his brother Bing. Why he didn’t grow in more fame over the years is a mystery to me. I loved Big Noise From Winnetka, and these old songs are becoming a hit with young people today. This deserves a resurgence.

How much he looks and sounds like BIng, his younger brother. George Robert Crosby (August 23, 1913 – March 9, 1993)....

"Pagan Love Song" has a lot of the melody of "Sugar Foot Stomp" in it here.

Brilliant! The opening of 'I Fall in Love With You' thrilled the hell out of me what with Charlie Spivak's soaring trumpet opening and closing. What beauty of tone!

Romance in the dark is such a ridiculous track. It’s a shame it can’t be found anywhere.

Is this Peabody dancing? My father was a amateur Peabody dancer called a "cake eater" dancer at dance halls in Manhattan 1920's.
