I haven’t been aware of Jason Isbell until recently. He is a great player, no doubt.

I learned to play slide in open tunings, but now I prefer standard tuning for the same reasons Jason gives - not having to retune or pick up a different guitar.

I commonly tune my high E down to D - to play slide. Using the first four strings, that is Open G, so a lot of good slide licks can be found there.

Casual genius. A lot of great advice (and sly humor) contained within this video’s 13 short minutes. It’s a little crazy to think that even Jason can be intimidated by another guitarist. His chops are incredible, but I guess Tommy Emmanuel can do that to the best of them. It would have been cool, however, if Jason had chosen a setup with a little less hum. That was annoying,
