The Battle of Prague took place between 25 June and 1 November 1648, on the very end of the Thirty Years' War. General Hans Christoff von Königsmarck captured Prague Castle on the western bank of the Vltava river but failed to enter the Old Town on the eastern bank. On the Charles Bridge (Karlův most) the Swedes were repulsed by the burghers of Prague.

CAUTION!
I won't tolerate any racist, discriminatory or in any other form inappropriate comments! This song neither glorifies war, nor National Socialism, but should be considered as a historical work.
"No, we don't glorify anything, we just tell stories about things that have happened." (Rikard Sundén, founding member of Sabaton)

----------

Little trivia: One of the things looted by the Swedish army at Prague Castle was a living, fullgrown lion. The Lion was taken back to Stockholm and lived quite a long life cosidering the rough climate up there. The Lion was named Cecil.

Funny how it all started with throwing a guy out a window.

I was in Prague and saw the Charles' Bridge. Now I feel cool.

Sabaton really needs an album about Napoleon. Or at least a song about Austerlitz and Waterloo.

The common people just stood up to the soldiers and were like "No, we're not just gonna be your looting-bounty any more." and actually managed to fight them off. That battle was one hell of a story when you think about it

i'm using this as a ringtone and a wake up alarm, a good way to remind me that my city is burning.

I like how the swedish version follows the swedes while this one is about the townsfolks defending themselves against them.. :)

Most of my Sabaton videos take between 3 (Midway) and more than 10 hours (The Lion From The North). This one took about 6 I think, but not all on the same day.

Fun fact at karlův most Swedish army was stopped by crowd of prague butchers. Since than any butcher could have royal lion as symbol on their shop. You can still see it today. I guess there is something dismoralizing marching against bunch of dudes in bloody aprons with giant axes.

Seeing this after the Swedish version...it makes the actions of the defenders even more heroic.

My favorite part- “The walls of the city’s been breached reclaimed on that very night unsustained, they did it on their own, they fought him on the bridge, their freedom was at stake.” My heart always resonates with tales of a determined defense, where even the civilians fight to protect their lives, religion, and freedom.

The part when Joakim sings independent melodies on the bridge is one of his personal favorites musical moments on the album.
