MusicWorks - Grade 3
Windjammers were the last of the great sailing tall ships, and this piece from the pen of Robert Buckley captures the majesty and excitement of these amazing vessels. The voyage begins announced by three solo trumpets surrounding the audience and bouncing musical phrases off one another. The sails are raised, the ship is underway, and the audience is taken on a colorful and exciting musical voyage. This is effective and skillfully scored programmatic music at its best.

My school band was working on this song for a major upcoming festival before covid, really wish we had the chance to play it fully polished. Such a beautiful piece.

Playing this piece for a competition in 8th grade, I’m a percussionist, so I have a lot of time to acknowledge how beautiful this song is. I hope whoever reads this has a great day!

I miss band :(. It was so fun, and listening to these pieces brings back so many memories of middle school, and the great tiems we had in mand class (with our amazing band teacher Mr. Drapeau, he was awesome).

Played it this past year. My favourite piece so far! The 3rd clarinet part was far above and beyond ordinary.

As a tuba player I love that my band teacher let me transcribe 2:00 so I can play it
(Edit)
Being able to play Robert buckles cathedral grove on French horn solo was so fun

I love this song but i must say this is definite Grade 4 difficulty. My school played 2 “Grade 3” songs as a senior band (gr 10-12) while we played a Grade 4 song for our normal band (gr9-12) and i must say this song is much more difficult than the Grade 4 song. Still an absolute masterpiece

Robert Buckley also did a piece for Jim Patterson's yatch the Nova Spirit which I played with and Robert Buckley conducted with The Kitsilano Boys Band Alumni concert back in 2016. As well as Ta Dum Da Dum (The A&W theme).
