📚 Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, or Jackie O as she was fondly nicknamed, transcended the role of First Lady. Born Jacqueline Lee Bouvier, she possessed an innate grace and elegance that captivated the public eye. Her life woven with personal triumphs and devastating tragedies, she left an enduring mark on American history.

📚 Jackie Kennedy's journey began in the affluent spheres of New York society. With a refined upbringing, she developed a passion for the arts, literature, and horseback riding. Marrying John F. Kennedy in 1953, she became a young and stylish First Lady at the dawn of a new era. Her impeccable fashion sense, with its pearls and pillbox hats, became a cultural touchstone.

📚 Beyond fashion, Jackie Kennedy actively cultivated the White House's cultural significance. She embarked on a mission to restore its historical grandeur, transforming it into a museum echoing America's rich past. Her televised tour, a first of its kind, brought the White House into living rooms across the nation, fostering a connection with the American people.

📚 However, tragedy struck in 1963 with the assassination of President Kennedy. Jackie Kennedy's composure and dignity in the face of national grief became an enduring image. She fiercely guarded her children's privacy while continuing to advocate for the arts and historic preservation.

📚 Jackie Kennedy later married Aristotle Onassis, a Greek shipping magnate. Following his death, she embarked on a successful career as a book editor, nurturing the talents of upcoming writers. Jackie Kennedy Onassis passed away in 1994, leaving behind a legacy of elegance, resilience, and a profound cultural impact.

After taking a look at Jackie Kennedy's New York City Apartment, what are your thoughts? Is her home as spectacular as you thought it would be?

I remorember meeting Jackie as we waited for the light to turn green on 5th Ave and Central Park. I was a college art student leaving the Metropolitan Museum, - which was near her apartment. .I looked to my right and saw this beautiful woman with her iconic large sunglasses next to me. My friend nudged me - and said 'that's Jackie'. She turned and smiled. I idolized Jackie even though my family was Republican. The '60's was such a wonderful era of hope, culture, and beauty - despite the turmoil of Vietnam and the assassinations. We all thought we were on a path to a wonderful world. That was an era when Dems and Rep could talk to each other

Mrs. Kennedy did not move from the White House to New York City. She and her children first moved to a townhouse in Georgetown, but nosy tourists made life there impossible for her. So she then moved to New York City.

I absolutely love the picture of her near the end of the video when she has freckles on her nose. In that picture I can feel her beautiful spirit. God bless her soul.

IMO she was the very definition of class & grace. Such a strong woman who faced so many tragedies & did it with style & grace.

I liked this apartment. It’s livable but full of beautiful things. And quirky in its colors and textures. I would have liked to live in a similar space.

I was lucky enough to get a glimpse of Jackie and the children when l was about 12 years old when they came to Newport News, Va. for the commissioning of the aircraft carrier named for JFK. I saw in the morning paper where they would be in town and l road my bike downtown to the main gate of the shipyard hoping to see them. I thought there would be a crowd waiting to see them but no one was there. I waited by the gate and after about five minutes the motorcade came down the street and turned into the gate right in front of me and l could clearly see Jackie, Caroline and John in the back of a limousine.

Tasteful, unpretentious, elegant, with touch of quirky and eclectic, old money aesthetic that manage to convey her essence and vision of what home should be. It's not easy making a home out of spaces that were built to impress not necessarily to offer sense of comfort and safety. She managed to do that.

Her apartment is very elegant, such a lovely lady, with a sad story that will follow on through her children.

I'm amazed at how JFK was so conservative in his geopolitical outlook. Jackie was beautiful and walked in such grace.

This video taught me the Kennedys had the same identical reindeer decoration in their Christmas tree as me!

THis was Jackie O's home and was designed with her taste. I respect that. It was also 60 years ago. The key if she and her kids/family were happy there. She had money and contacts unlike most of us. We see a lot of magazine homes / decor but it is often not attainable due to resources and family needs. Not my taste but it does speak and smell of money.

The description of the rooms unfortunately does not match the footage which I conclude was due to the lack of more photos of the apartment! Anyway, it was good to see the place.

Even though she lived in NY during the 70's I'll bet even she would be shocked as to how low the city has descended today.
