I bought my daughter a used one years ago and we wrenched on it together, we repainted it ourselves the custom exhaust system we installed was like her calling card I could hear her coming through the hills and valleys for miles. She only let it go after getting rear ended by a F250 while at a red light she was so mad at that man for totaling her RX that she forgot she was 8 months pregnant and started chasing the guy with a stick. 20 years later she still talks about that car, and I still love the memories and the exhaust note.

I bought a first generation RX-7 with a manual transmission new in 1979 to replace my 1968 GTO. Drove it for ten years and put on close to 200k miles without a single issue. I just changed the oil and filter religiously every 5k miles. I really miss that car (both of them)...lot of fun to drive.

? So Mazda ISN'T going out of business and we DON'T have to say goodbye to Mazda? What did I miss?

Great thing about those rotary engines is they kill a lot of mosquitoes with the exhaust

I had a 1986 RX7 like this one and loved it. The most fun and best handling car I ever owned. I drifted it around corners like no tomorrow. Low Center of gravity and stiff suspension. I had it in Colorado and it actually did quite well in the snow for a rear wheel drive, because the front to back weight was pretty well balanced. It would scream up the mountain passes. Sadly, the engine went out and I abandoned the car. Wish I could have kept it and did what Scotty was talking about and kept it going.

Best advice when owning a rotary:
1.Keep them cool
2.A REDLINE a day keeps the carbon away
3. A PREMIX a day keeps the REBUILDS away!

I bought Turbo II new IN 1986.5. Great car. Up to 29 mpg actual-- not a computer generated. At 40, 000 miles, did not burn oil yet.

I have a 1993 mazda miata, engine runs great with less than 100k on it, 2nd owner. It's a Texas car, , no rust, drives and sounds great. I run mobile 1 full synthetic.

My 87 NA rx7 handled pretty well in the snow with some extra weight in the back. Only if you had good winters on it though. Very fun daily drove one for about 8 years.

I remember when turbine powered cars were entered at Indianapolis. They lapped the other cars but kept breaking down because of some ten cent part.

Scotty mentioned racing and Wankels, can’t forget the Mazda 787B! That car absolutely crushed LeMans. Sounds incredible too

Had a 79 n loved that little speed box. Though it was more like a toy than even a car.

I HAD THREE RX-7s - DO NOT CHANGE THE COLOR TO WHITE - THIS BLACK IS AMAZING if anything just repaint the black - I had a '78 4 speed all though high school - super rare miss that car so much also had an '86 & '91 - almost bought a '93 back then too - those 3rd gen cars are incredibly beautiful - I never would have believed my Japanese cars would become collector's items or I would have kept them all. I LOVE these cars and the memories I had in them.
