macOS was already always using unique ‘private’ MAC addresses for each network. All that this new feature adds is the ability to have that private MAC change automatically at a fixed interval for ‘enhanced privacy and security’ or just let that network keep the same private MAC address unless you forget and rejoin the network. Agree that it would be nice to choose which to be the default.

2:15 not entirely true, my iPhone, for one, doesn't have FaceID, but TouchID, and I can still lock apps with it.

Ability to require apps for biometric authentication before access is a good idea. It's not the worst idea to protect your email client and text message client if you live in a city with a phone theft problem like London..

Hiding apps is also for people who might be in an abusive relationship for instance, etc.
I like to lock apps like reddit etc, because they can contain private messages, but often do not have that lock feature

Windows also has iCloud, iTunes, Apple Music, TV and a Device Manager app by Apple. And Apple Passwords now actually support third party browsers (not Firefox though) and not just Safari

Hey tech lore. can you pick a platform!? is the blog post the best way to keep in touch or youtube? i’m trying to keep up with what you provide and appreciate it. what’s the best way to do it? the talks were unscripted, so i use youtube. can i count on using the blog to get the information in text form going forward? i would personally love to use this platform less.

Yeah the screen recording notification thing is totally crap. I work in IT and we have remote access tools that require this for our employees when they need help. The app already requires the user to agree for us to join this is just nuts.

I don’t use the passwords on Apple account. I want a separate password manager. But for people who don’t have a clue and use 1 password for everything, it at least makes them use it maybe and be more safe than today.

MAC address randomization has already been a thing in IOS for a while now, I can only assume it will work similar on MacOS. Every time IOS connects to a WIFI network it randomizes it's broadcasted MAC address by default. There is no option to rotate MACs or designate a fixed one, the only option you have is to disable it (which Apple seems to think is a security risk even on WPA2/3 personal WIFI) . The process behind it is likely the same process at which hackers spoof their MAC addresses. The network card has a hardcoded vendor address sure, but the OS is responsible for including that address in ethernet frames when communicating with the router. The OS generates a randomized MAC address and then includes that as the source MAC address in it's ethernet frames when communicating with the router. The router then uses that randomized address when moving on to layer 3 TCP/IP

MacOs 15.0 breaks Onedrive and Intune MDM features like silently move desktop and documents to Onedrive. When autosave is on, the is a constant spinning color wheel when trying to save a document and the constant permission nag for Word, Excel etc dave to Onedrive locations is a bit weird. Anyone has experience? 😅

From what I understand, it's a way for network admins to whitelist a mac address without knowing the real hardware address. Fixed = fake (but static). Off = hardware. Rotating = fake and random

Apple definitely isn't going to bring profiles or any type of technology improvements that go beyond the "one person/one phone" concept. They would never do anything to reduce the number of phones they can sell, ultimately impacting their astronomical profits. Apple: "Need two profiles? Need two phones (and double the revenue for us). Thanks!"

Face ID is invasive. I prefer fingerprints. Apple does not provide this. Surely you can just use passcode without faceID?
