Tesla Is Completing Major Battery Construction at Roadrunner Project
Показать описание
In addition, the electric car production at the parent plant in Fremont in California is being expanded - and very close by, a YouTuber has now documented work for a production facility that will initially be Tesla's smallest Gigafactory and yet be of greatest importance.
Own Tesla cells already confirmed
Either way, the renovations on the Tesla building on Cato Road are in full swing, as a new YouTube video on the Living with Intent channel shows. On the drone pictures you can see that the parking lot in front of the building is full of materials and small and large construction vehicles. These include many mobile cranes - which is explained by the fact that Tesla is adding part of the roof, as requested. In fact, a square structure protrudes from the elongated building, which looks largely completed.
It has long been apparent that Tesla will not only have multiple partners deliver battery cells for its electric cars and stationary battery storage systems, but will also produce them itself. With the announcement of the date for Tesla's eagerly awaited Battery Day in September, CEO Elon Musk made it clear that these plans would become more concrete: He announced that Tesla would then also show a production line for cells in Fremont. A little later it became known that Tesla wanted to carry out conversions for battery research and production in a building that is only one (large) intersection and one block of buildings from the main Tesla plant.
Information on electricity requirements in the Tesla applications indicated that up to 840-megawatt hours of battery cells can be produced there per year. This would put the battery factory just below the Giga scale of Tesla's other factories. But that's only true if the energy consumption remains as high as before, and in 2019 Tesla took over the specialist Maxwell Technologies, which had been working on a far more efficient production method.
