With the announcement of the date for Tesla's eagerly awaited Battery Day in September, CEO Elon Musk made it clear that these plans would become more concrete: He announced that Tesla would then also show a production line for cells in Fremont. A little later it became known that Tesla wanted to carry out conversions for battery research and production in a building that is only one (large) intersection and one block of buildings from the main Tesla plant.

Information on electricity requirements in the Tesla applications indicated that up to 840-megawatt hours of battery cells can be produced there per year. This would put the battery factory just below the Giga scale of Tesla's other factories. But that's only true if the energy consumption remains as high as before, and in 2019 Tesla took over the specialist Maxwell Technologies, which had been working on a far more efficient production method.

My wife and I passed by 47700 Kato Road the other day. We stopped, I got out of the car and talked to two workman on break. I exclaimed, "What you are doing in that building will change the world. As a Tesla stockholder, I thank you!". The guy just dead-panned me and replied "I can't talk about it." I just smiled through my mask and gave him a thumbs up.

It's interesting that every Tesla-related video is getting similar numbers of "thumbs down" ratings.... Who has time to waste looking for all these videos to supposedly not like? Personally, I look for videos I hope I like. Thumbs up to you, Armen!

It is great to see this new Tesla battery factory progress so quickly. I really hope that they can get production up and running in just one month's time. Tesla's Battery Day holds so much promise for the company, and both Tesla fans and competitors are eagerly waiting to see what they can come up with. I think that Tesla's battery innovations will be a game changer for the battery industry, and EV market. The greater effects on the major players may not be seen right away, but they promise to be far reaching over time.

I expect Elon is lately saying anything he legally can to dampen investor enthusiasm, trying to avoid a price bubble vulnerable to a newsworthy burst.
