I used to like Kraut. In 2021, when Israel was bombing Gaza, he posted how europe was experiencing a rise in antisemetism. I responded that, I was surprised he hasn't condemned israel for murdering Gazan civilians. He responded by calling me a fascist. 😅

"If making neoliberal erotic ASMR with the voice of a foreman of a diamond mine in Botswana was an olypmic medal, Kraut would win gold"

Kraut takes some assumptions for granted. Like when he said Trinidad and Tobago had a majority black population. He assumed so because the Caribbean is mostly black. But Trinidad and Tobago has a slightly higher East Indian population, from when Britain sent migrants from India.

And his videos are littered with the kind of lazy assumptions westerns default to.

Kraut is an ineffective pop history narrator who fails to grasp the intricacies of the Brahminical caste system, which has extended its influence even to South Asian diasporas around the world. Also his buddy ravignon is ferver capitlist 😂 who made a video about how setller colonialism in Palestine could be made more effective.

As a former fan of Kraut, I thought he was similar to another creator in the Polandball community, Brains4Breakfast, due to the similar style and what appears to be high-quality content, but once you look into the content more in depth, it’s just political slop and bad history. There will never be a creator as good as Brains4Breakfast ever again that can use the simple visuals of Polandball to make good educational content on YouTube again. RIP Brains4Breakfast, and it’s sad to see the style of content he made be used in such ways.

Dang. Kraut made an anti-race pseudoscience video series back in 2017 when debating the alt-right and I actually took himself seriously for his anti-race pseudoscience work (I didn’t know anything about him at the time).

I feel like a silly sausage for taking himself seriously 😂

I am fairly sure that these kinds of animated videos with no sources are usually meant for ppl with low attention spans, but that don't use subway surfers as a way to keep themselves entertained (maybe they do both?)

I cringed when watching the russian authoritarianism video. It was ridiculous to blame russian authoritarianism on mongols because authoritarian powers existed amongst the russ principalities long before the mongol yoke.

If anyone is interested in another example, please compare Kraut's "The Mexican American Border: A Tale of Two Colonies" to Acemoglu and Robinson's "Why Nations Fail". The entire argument presented by Kraut in the video on the causes of the economic disparity between Mexico and the U.S. is taken from the first chapter (called "So Close and yet so Different") of Acemoglu and Robinson's book. Many passages are almost the same as the book, paraphrasing the original text. Kraut's video does this right from the start. Here is the original passage of the book for comparison: "The city of Nogales is cut in half by a fence. If you stand by it and look north, you'll see Nogales, Arizona, located in Santa Cruz County. The income of the average household there is about  $30, 000 a year. Most teenagers are in school, and the majority of the adults are high school graduates. Despite all the arguments people make about how deficient the U.S. healthcare system is, the population is relatively healthy, with high life expectancy by global standards. Many of the residents are above age sixty-five and have access to Medicare." While Kraut also lists this book as one of the sources for his video in the description, it is much more than that; it is the foundation of the video's take on why the disparity exists (presenting the author's argument as his own thoughts) and beyond that, Kraut also uses the book as a template to script his video. Hence, another case of Kraut plagiarism, I would say!

The quote above is on p. 8 of my version:
Acemoglu, D., & Robinson, J. A. (2013). Why Nations Fail: The Origins of Power,
Prosperity and Poverty. London: Profile Books.
