If they over-promised and under-delivered, people would have a field day. I much prefer this strategy of being conservative with figures.

I'm going to wait for the v-cache models. They will hopefully dominate when it comes to gaming.

It is a great paradigm shift towards new platform tech. But I have just upgraded to a B550 with an R5 5600, so I'm not joining the AM5 party for a loooong while.

Can’t wait for the 7800x3D or whatever they end up calling it, rumors are it’s coming early next year to launch alongside 13th gen intel and will bring even higher gaming performance.

Still running Ryzen 3800XT and feeling super fine with it for everything I do, may upgrade to a 5800X3D as and when the price seems appropriate and then later move over to Zen4. Exciting times though, this competition between Amd, Intel, and Nvidea is great for us consumers.

Thanks for the breakdown!

As a very happy 3600 owner, it feels like waiting for Zen 4 x3D might be the move. Yeah it'll cost more, but the performance upgrade for gaming will actually feel substantial vs Zen 4 vanilla.

It is good to hear that AMD is throwing integrated graphics back in. I'm on a Ryzen 7, which is great; but if my RTX 30 goes, I'm up a creek until a new card arrives and unable to get any real work done. Not likely at all, but always a possibility.

I'd like to see a comparison between the first gen of AM4 to the first gen of AM5
Not exactly/just performance, but also stability, ram support, general platform stability and all that stuff Zen struggled with when it launched

I'm going to stay on AM4 for two more years (maybe three). I feel like I'm not gaining much coming from a 5900x; it's doing just fine for me. However the pricing and perfomance is surprisingly okay aside from maybe the 7600x (but it's a decent bit faster than 12900K at least in ST for gaming so it might be fair). 7600 non x might be a better buy for value if it's right below the 12900k (90-95%) at a much lower tdp for $200.

If the 7800x3D and 7950x3D is at least 20% over the base CPUs I might reconsider, but as of now I'm waiting for Zen 5 (no later than Zen 6). Overall this looks like a nice upgrade for someone coming from +5 CPU generations

Competition is good. I am looking forward to the independent reviews and benchmarks.

I'll upgrade from Z87 to AM5. Skipped DDR4 completely. And i5 4950 to R5 7600X will be my game changer, literally. I think I'll get a "high end" chipset though so I'm not screwed by AMD offering a x4 PCIE gen 5 GPU in the future... 🙄

I'm letting AM5/DDR5 get settled in first...looking for a cheaper 5800x3d when Zen 4 drops tho

As one who just intends to build my first PC, this sounds like an incredible opportunity. With 7000s CPUs coming out, and 40 series graphics cards on the horizon.

with intel releasing later, this gives them time to tweak price points and maybe performance levels to some degree (by adjusting clock frequencies). intel is increasing core counts, cache and frequencies across the board, so this should be a pretty good fight. I'll sit back this round and watch the fight. 🍿

Zen 4 looks super impressive! Can't wait to see all the blue graphs!

Let's go AMD. This will hopefully drive down the price of 5800x3d in which I plan to upgrade from my 5600x in this upcoming holiday season.

I'm about to upgrade from a first gen threadripper to this platform. I'd love to see a comparison between a 16 core threadripper 1950x and the latest 16 core 7950x to see how far we have really come in 5 years...

Ever since I've started playing DCS I've realized the importance of good ram and good CPU. Playing sim games in a high player count server just claps your hardware. Would be nice to see benchmarks exploring performance in sims like DCS which can make use of all the power AND graphics at the same time.

I will wait for the benchmarks, no rush whatsoever.

Happy for good hardware news but I'll stick to my 5900X for a few years. It's crazy to me how I could go from 2200G to 3600 to 5900X on the same motherboard. It's the kind of thing that'll count when the time comes and I need to choose between Intel and AMD again.
