Kyoto has many attractions and lots of touristy places. Born and raised in Osaka, Kyoto has been always a place where I can visit on a whim. Although I love going to see beautiful famous buildings and sights, not to mention having so much fun to shop around and taste delicious street food, I can't deny that I also enjoy going to not widely known areas like the temple I went to film..there is a gorgeous surprise in the end!

Special thanks to my mom. Not only getting up early morning and coming along with me, but also she helped me to film some scenes and photos! She's definitely part of With Me JAPAN now!

Hope you enjoy the video🥰💓

Hi Yuka🐥, Those temples in Kyoto are of historical and cultural significance and are admired for their religious importance, stunning architecture, and traditional craftsmanship. They are definitely national treasures💎of Japan 🇯🇵🗾.

Wow, I have watched this video three times. The Nanzenji temple complex is truly magnificent! Thanks for introducing it, Yuka. The Sanmon Gate and the Hatto are amazing structures. It was surprising to see a European-style aqueduct there with the water still running in it. I read that Nanzenji was used in scenes in the movie Lost in Translation and found the scenes on YouTube.

Did a trip to Kansai region back in Oct 2023 (now on a second trip but in Hokkaido this time). Kyoto really impressed me, I even discovered a nice secret location there of my own in Fushimi Inari and even met who I think was a priestess rehearsing for something with a whole lot of lutes. I actually found a place because I went off the main trail and eventually kept following the music of her lute until it led me to a hidden shrine. The sign post on that trail said “no exit here”, but I went anyway. She kept playing the lute as I carefully approached her. Then she finished the tune and invited me to donate and pray at the shrine (it was made of either granite or marble, maybe both, but really well crafted!). I felt slightly emotional after praying (it normally doesn’t happen to me), but she said it was normal, because according to her a lot of negativity has gone away from me. She then told me that there was a shortcut towards an exit from the trail. I asked her about the “no exit here” sign that I have seen just before coming there and she said “oh, you noticed there are fox guardians everywhere right? So, while their main role is to guide and protect the humans, because they are immortal they get bored so they like to play pranks on them. It seems that you were the only one who didn’t get tricked by a fox and followed the sound of my lute instead!”, we both had a bit of a laugh (I tried my best to speak with her even with my broken Japanese since she did not speak English at all, but somehow it worked!). When I followed the path she directed me to, I noticed a lot of sculptures there of a female with a fox head playing the lute - a bit like that priestess I bumped into 🤔 The whole experience felt as if I just unlockec some secret location and got a bonus buff to my stats as a result like in some game or smth 😂

The location is not marked on the map, but to find it you have to complete the entire trail and go all the way to the top first and keep going until you reach roughly the middle of the path, then you will likely see it (if they haven’t closed it off). Good luck searching for it if you (and/or those reading this and planning to visit that place) decide to give it a try. If you do find it, I hope you will also have a nice “soul cleansing experience” I had when I came there ☺✌🏼

Wow!!! Thank You Yuka-chan, this video was beautiful and well done. I love these quiet and interesting places. The Temple and the greenery with the water stream running alongside was spectacular.

Once again, a big Thank You and enjoy your time in Kyoto! 👍

Kyoto was so laid back. I walked through many of the neighborhoods and those recessed canals were really cool, lots of interesting vegetation flora and fauna around those canals.

This is a really nice idea for a walk in Kyoto. I am currently planning a 3-week trip to Japan for the summer of 2025, on which my two daughters will accompany me. I have been to Japan in 1998 (even to Hokkaido) and I am curious to see how much it has changed.

Thank you for your interesting and inspiring videos.
Many greetings from Germany.
