This is my take on a well known design for a stacked shop vac cyclone diy dust collector. I think I solved a problem and I hope it helps you out with your build.

DWV 2 inch flexible coupler slip it over and screw it tight. Slightly cheaper, no heating and no stretching.

Nice job I just made one for my shop vac, and the hose rack is what I’m really impressed with, thanks for the video, I’ve been fighting with my hose for such a long time now everything is so compact, thanks again

I have done very similar with Woodglut designs.

Just a quick note...I used a 2” to 1 1/2” Fernco coupling to connect to the new Ridgid Vac feet and continued up using 1 1/2” pvc piping as instructed here, .

I am going to build something like this soon. To get around the wheel supports for the uprights I am going to remove the wheels all together. I am going to mount the vacuum onto a piece of plywood and put wheels on that. I will use 2 x 4s for the uprights and mount the "bucket" onto another piece of plywood mounted to them. In making a cart like I am, you have a lot more to work with. You can then make all manner of attachment points for the vacuum accessories power cords hoses etc.

Thanks Jason, I’m going to make one. Great idea.

Just made one of these before I saw this video. I ended up just driving two screws through the wheel assembly into the 2" coupler. Then used a 2" to 1 1/2" reducer. Seems to be stable enough.

Liked the video, I am also trying to make this work with the new version. I just purchased 4 - 2 1/2 hose couplers from amazon for the price of one from the box stores.

So many things I'm learning about this...

1. I posted in another comment that any 2.5 inch coupler will fit. But...the coupler from the Ridgid kit fits snugly as you can see in the video. Any other coupler will be loose. Even though it fits into the wheel base, it rattles around. That might not matter. If it doesn't matter, you can just go with an ordinary pvc 2 inch coupler which fits into the wheel base and fits the 2" pipe without any modification and will also rattle around. I'm going to try both ways and post the results.

2. When I went into my local HD to look at their Ridgid adapter sets, I found that they had put just the couplers I wanted into their own bin. The bin was still marked as "3 piece adapter set" and was the price of the set, but the bin only contained those couplers. So I brought them to check out and explained the problem. I was bounced around to three different people but the supervisor understood the problem. She couldn't just make up a price, but she gave me the four couplers for the price of the set, which was $9.47 plus tax. So I ended up paying about $2.50 each. Interestingly, Lowes did the same thing with their ShopVac equivalent. But an HD in another town had the correct shrink wrapped set.

3. The coupler with the screw end seen in the video is hard to find. The ones my local HD had looked the same but when I got them home I discovered the threaded part is only 3/4" long. Which means that if I have it on the bottom of my 3/4 inch plywood and put it through the hole, there are no threads that stick up past the top of the plywood to screw the cap onto. I have to either find ones somewhere with longer threads or use 1/2" plywood.

Jason, do you recall where exactly you got those couplers from?

Great video Jason. Please include links to the products / tools you use. It can sometimes be difficult to find the right materials to replicate your design.

Why spend the money on the ABS adapter and mod that part instead of just heating up the PVC and mold it to the foot?

I really like the way you designed the legs with the screw cap one thing I do have a question about is how long are your legs from the vacuum up to the wooden base? I just bought parts today make to make my own and just curious how long they were Thanks

Dude, find a neighbor with a small lathe to turn one of those two pieces or even sand/grind them with a die grinder. Many other options than expensive parts and heating.

Jason…I really like this design. I’m going to start making mine tomorrow. Question…where did you get the hose rack? I’ve looked everywhere and can’t find it.

Would some of the black PVC pipe out there 4 sale at different plumbing supply or other places maybe be the right size? I just bought the same exact Ridgid vac as yours, I have a different cyclone deal but that won't matter much, it's a blue outfit that's on Amazon. I'm kinda hesitant to buy those $8 adapters and then mess em up. Sure is a headache trying to move these things around even though my cyclone has wheels. Any suggestions?? I will gladly listen, and I do appreciate your video ! Seems like it's taking me forever getting my small shop organized.

Thank you for the video. I found another cheap solution just using a rubber band, measure 0.875 to 1 in diameter and flattened length x 0.5 in. width, My solution doesn't use RIDGID adapter. I used the rubber band to wrap around the wheel assembly. If the band is not thick enough, you can double or triple it. Then, 2" pipe can fit on it. It is probably not a perfect fit like the RIDGID adapter I guess but it fits quite well. Those rubber bands can be found for free at the grocery store. They use the band to wrap some veggies. Just look around for those sizes. Cheers!

I am building similar but I am enclosing the vacuum in a box with insulation and baffles to reduce the noise by about 20% or more. This way, you have have your casters out farther and remove the vacuum for cleaning out. A quiet and clean shop is a happy shop.

Lol... the first thing I heard is the same theme song used by Dr. Zzzzs channel. Good taste in music, mate.
