In my opinion, this song has an incredible message. What she's doing is showing just how out-of-touch mainstream music is with average, everyday people - the same people who fuel those excess lifestyles. What you hear and what you live are polar opposites, and she's highlighting that. Sure, it would be nice, and given the change she would live it, however... she didn't come from money, she can't relate to a lifestyle of extreme excess. The mainstream music depicts a fantasy, not reality. It's a dream that we can't relate to, but one that we want to make real. That's what she's saying.

This song makes perfect sense. I'm not sure how people are confused by the message. Not being caught up in your love affair = not wanting money and fame, but something else. She craves something else. The person who is singing is saying she knows she'll never be a royal, but she'll rule in her own way. Meaning she doesn't care if she doesn't come from money, she'll leave her impression in a different way. You can be rich in heart and dreams. This is reinforced in the song via things like "no postcode envy". Doesn't envy people who are rich.
