There's an extreme amount of variables for sure.

Good topic Mike.
I have always leaned on the conservative size on carburetor size.
Maybe I am old school.
But the 750 cfm being the center piece for base line performance.
And this can be to big for many applications.
People getting jetting requirements mixed up with carb size.
But smaller is always better than to big.
Kind of like camshaft size.
Smaller is better than to big.
That's another topic.
But one should run what they can effectively tune.
And today with fuel being what it is and what it cost this may also be a factor in determining the size of carb.
Yes I agree the AFR gauge should be a tool for dialing in your carb.
Thanks Mike.
Take care, Ed.

I saw that Thunderhead 289 video, I was very surprised especially considering he typically does legit How too and Tech videos, so there is no reason not to believe him. I'm actually using your Carb video and equations to figure out what carb will work best for me on the DART! I would interested hearing a discussion on ignition systems. Stock VS Performance and at what point do you really need to upgrade to a Performance ignition . Great Episode Mike!

I also watched Thunderhead 289s vid and it is quite amazing but as you said he is quite smart and what I would call a straight shooter. With the price of gas pushing almost $8.00 a gallon in Canada (mostly thanks to our bufoon of a PM Justin Trudeau and his carbon taxes that he insists on punishing us with) a super small carb for extra gas mileage these days makes a lot of sense.
