As a European, I'm shocked that duvet covers aren't standard in America.

cannot believe there are people out there who haven't experienced the good vibes of changing the entire colour scheme of your room just by switching out the duvet cover

As an American, not all of us live under a rock. Duvet covers are mandatory in my life

As an Aussie, and I hadn’t even thought about the fact that some people don’t have duvet (or doona) covers. 😅

Just info
The bed sheet is a fitted sheet, Flat sheets go between you and the comforter. If you get an expensive comforter like one with down, it can be expensive to get dry cleaned or be hard to wash if it doesn't fit in the washing machine. With the sheet or duvet between you and the comforter, you only have to wash the cover and sheets frequently.
Also, standard pillows are like 28 inches long, queen pillows are 30, king size pillows are 36, and body pillows are about 54.
I used to work retail where I stocked bedding

In the uk we call a comforter a duvet so that's why it's called a duvet cover and we always have a duvet cover on because there's normally nice patterns on them and it can decorate your room xx

"pillow case for your comforter" americans will never not be surprising to me haha, but i guess we all should just sleep the way we feel comfy

I always learned you had a mattress pad, a fitted sheet, a flat sheet, then blankets, and pillow cases. I never really used duvets at all because I never really used a comforter, I generally use a bunch of smaller blankets because I don't actually have a comforter. My grandmother also used to have bed skirts to hide her bedframe.

Flat sheets are great- nice and soft compared to a comforter and you get ✨adjustable warmth levels✨

"Have I been living under a rock this whole time??"

I think duvets are a rich person thing in the US… growing up we always got the comforter sets with the comforter, pillow cases, sometime it came with sheets and throw pillows and a bed skirt. They were always a good deal like $50 for all that and they were usually softer than the cheapest stuff bought separately…. It was rare to see a set with a duvet included

“Have I been living under a rock?”
Yes.

Fyi a comforter is like a softer bedsheet because it helps you feel more relaxed so the bed feels more fluffy. The one you use as a blanket is called a weighted blanket.

They're not the same thing but you can use it however you want ig.
