I live in Christchurch NZ where we had a far right attack on a mosque killing many people. Locked into my workplace watching armed police patrol outside unsure what they were facing, was horrifying. But my lasting memory which brought home to me the reality is of a few weeks later when I was running across to a neighbour to drop off a parcel. In front of me were 2 women. The older one in a hijab . As I ran they swung round. The younger woman stepped in front of her mother arms spread wide to protect her. The look of terror on their faces was startling. That is the lived experience of Muslims dismissed so easily. It’s not “racist” it’s Islamophobic and racist.

I saw that with Balls interrupting and at one point was pulling an antagonistic goading face at Sultana which was very uncomfortable to watch. ITV and those presenters should be ashamed of themselves.
