I might be remembering this completely wrong but didn't the Egyptians believe that what you were buried with came with you in the after-life.. So having the mummy with an unborn child would have been like they were still together in a sense?

Everybody gets the life expectancy thing wrong all the time. Infant mortality is always figured in, which drops the adult life expectancy down considerably, especially in that time period. A lot of children back in the day didn't make it to see the age of ten, so many families had multiple children because the more you had, the more likely some would survive to adulthood. Once you made it to adulthood, so long as you didn't do anything stupid, you had just as much chance of living to hit 70 or 80 as we do today. Ramses the first lived into his late 90's, not because he was special, but because he had access to the best and freshest foods of that time and probably kept active, which kept him quite healthy.

Weird how convinced they are with the age of the pyramids even when they find far older materials they DO know an approximate age of are found inside during an excavation. They have no way of knowing when the pyramids were actually built or how long they've been there - weathering from the quarries suggests they're WAY older.
