Great video. I've been using PC's for 30yrs and take MANY precautions. You really want a virus/malware suite that prefetches links in your browser and email and lets you know before you even "click" them that there is RISK ahead. I also shadow my data every hour to a NAS and do a weekly disk image of my system. I have had catastrophic hardware failures and being able to simply restore a disk "image" and still have all my latest data on my NAS causes very little loss of time to recover to put you right back to where you were before the failure. Any serious PC user should have a NAS and the disk imaging software I use is completely free and works like a champ. My ONLY virus failure was using Norton (Now Norton 360) which was crap then and from what I have read is even worse now hogging up system resources like no tomorrow and charges you randomly or over-charges renewal (based on what I have read and some friends that USED to use this). As with anything do your OWN homework in a "trusted" virus/malware software for what works for you.

Nice video..! from myside I would recommend the K7 antivirus. I installed k7 free trail version for my laptop, it is working good for both my laptop and mobile. and thanks for your video.

I've used Norton and Malwarebytes as my layered, running in the background defense. I also use HitmanPro which runs on demand. That has served me well for over 15 years

While security suit do a great job at protecting you a lot people need to be careful of what they download and the sites they visit

So, a video titled "Whis is the best pc security software for windows" doesn't actually recommend a "best" and in fact explicitly states that making a recommendation for the "best " security software is not what this video is about. WTF? Clickbait? or a confused creator? Not nice.

Yes Brian a good video mate and personally I run Eset Smart Security on my machines and have found it really quite good. Having said that I still watch the emails for example for dodgy looking stuff like ones that tell me that I have Walmart credits or Bitcoin redemptions etc etc which usually arrive as junk mail and get swiftly deleted unless I know if the email is from a legit source. That other level of control in your video on adding another user account I tried but lost the password so had to reinstall Windows over again but that was my mistake eh?

What are your thoughts on Bitdefender software

Lot of experts on the web is recommending to stick with windows defender but doing that is pretty annoying. Windows is becoming more invasive from one day to the next & soon it feels like, even to boot up I might have to ask their permission. The path that I'm afraid, that windows might take is that once we become fully dependable to windows defender for windows security, they will start bundling edge & what not. I recently installed a new LTSC version just to avoid updates but no matter which settings I choose, widows updates whenever there is an update whenever I boot up. Which is annoying when this happens during working hours. Trust in MSFT at the lowest & looks like it is on the way down for me. Thanks for the videos!!

Rogue killer and malware bytes are all I use, regular scans. Windows defender is more than enough to block stuff.

I use Malwarebytes, I've got a lifetime user key ($25cdn when they started up). No problems since. Brave is my browser. I do not open email links or attachments from unknown eMail senders and question any senders on suspicious attachments.

Kaspersky Internet Security all the way. Is slick and I never got an infected machine with this. Also has a good anti-spam for Outlook.
Browser: Vivaldi with AdGuard.
VPN from F-Secure Freedome, recently testing new VPN from AdGuard, which is also really fine.
Not to forget: a good backup software. Switched from Acronis to Macrium Reflect, because Acronis got bloated the last versions. It does 1000 things I don't need, puts load on the system and backup function got less reliable. With Macrium I don't look back now, it just does it's job.

Best security is you, no truer word has been said.
Would be interested in a video on comparing different security softwares. Norton keep emailing me now to renew haha.

Thanks!

I was attacked about 4 days ago while using FB Messenger with someone whom I thought I could trust to share a video chat with, and needless to say, that became a nightmare scenario where the person behind the account was actually a hacker, and upon linking up in Messenger, this person proceeded to infect my computer with malicious software that basically made my OS totally inoperable to the point where I had a hell of a time getting out of the BIOS safely to even load into the OS login screen. After 3 days of troubleshooting, and many hours of stress, I finally was able to get Windows 10 ver. 1909 running, and eventually began a long and arduous process of saving many restore points between being able to get those next software upgrades that would stabilise my system further. After getting the Windows 10 ver. 20H2 to download this morning, and after watching your video, I felt it was time to add some layers of security, so since then I have had 2 BSODs: 1st being IRQL_NOT_GREATER_OR_EQUAL, and the second being:

Log Name: System
Source:
Date: 2/18/2022 1:48:24 PM
Event ID: 1001
Task Category: None
Level: Error
Description:
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: (0xffffd28035b9dec8, 0xffffed0a7bbc46a0, A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id:

Needless to say, after logging back in, I ran this in CMD as admin: "chkdsk /r /v C:", then rebooted after entering Y and closing the CMD. I haven't seen a BSOD since (Thank God)! What mostly helped I think was getting BitDefender Total Security with BitDefender VPN and Password Manager together on top of WinDefender to help with the much needed cleaning up of corrupted files, deletion of the infected files causing more problems that Windows Defender did not identify, and certainly your video tutorial on using the Event Viewer to at least get a general starting point in identifying and dealing with the root causes of BSODs helped much! Thank you so very much for your dedication to helping others in the arena of computers and software. Without your patience and guidance in these issues I probably would have taken out the guts of my computer, then thrown the rest of what was left of my gaming laptop out of the window, whilst thinking it was beyond repair.
