I have the Athena preamp paired with the Apollo power amp, and the combination is absolutely sublime. Also wanted to add that you can get the display to show xlr4 by using the remote control. I am also using that pure direct xlr4 mode for best sound quality. Highly recommended!

I am glad to see this is a design that aligns well with your DACs (capacitor banks, stout aluminum case, etc.). Being full size and coming up with novel solutions is great.

Useful: you mention not to use XLR out and RCA out at the same time. I use XLR to my active ATCs and RCA is my only option for my REL sub. What do you recommend?

Yeah..for LOMC cartridges you need 50-60db of gain.

I am experiencing buyers regret. My Sonic Frontiers iLine 3 is so elegant. No noise as you change the volume. Just a smooth silent increase or decrease. And one can also potentiate the volume of the two channels independently. I have been spoiled and I didn't even know it. I am currently delaying installing the venus into my system for two months as I re evaluate my SF LINE 3 BEFORE SWITCHING OVER TO THE VENUS. I am open to what the results present.
