There wasn't a dry eye in the room as Broadway actress Astrid Van Wieren from musical "Come From Away" met real-life inspiration for part of her character, Gander resident Diane Davis.

Van Wieren plays Beulah Davis, a role that includes telling the story of Diane Davis working as a teacher at Gander Academy during the 9/11 response.

Davis watched the sold-out show in Gander on Oct. 29, along with 2,500 others. She already has tickets booked to see the show on Broadway in February.

I was confused at first at the character of "Beulah Davis". Now I know that it is Beulah Cooper AND Diane Davis. Two people. I knew about Beulah, not about Diane.
