Sometime back I was reading a document titled 'reactions to WW1' in a history class. The men were so jovial, because most thought that they had found a sense of purpose. Even strangers and enemies were speaking to one another on the streets, and the women praised the men as they cleaned their guns.
Contrast that to a document of the poems written by the soldiers during and after the war, it was brutal. They were traumatized and many wished that they never participated in war. Men in the old times did indeed feel a sense of purpose getting ready to fight, but the real experience of blood, murder etc. is something a war veteran wishes he never went through

I remember reading this quote once that said "If people lived in a safe utopia, then the first thing they would do is try to burn it down, just so something interesting could happen". We now live in that era... but the chaos isn't necessarily outside, it's in our own minds... and whether or not it is your fault that you are in such a place right now it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to pick yourself up... as well as others. I know exactly what I want to do with my life. I’ve never been bored or clueless ever since. Writing up goals, plans, dreams, aspirations, helped me out a lot. We are conditioned from a young age that we are facing an economic crisis because of the demographic change. We're taught to work hard, smart, and *a lot* (as opposed to only working smart). Meaning, if you're not working at least 40-50 hours a week + studying for a new degree/career advancement or side hustle, you're kneecapping your career and risking poverty at retirement.
And when you're done with your work, you're too tired and burned out to do anything besides watching Netflix and playing video games.

Knowing actual history, I can say that people have always been the same. Technologies we use everyday changed, ideologies have changed, the world has changed, but we have not. You've told a success story at the start of the video, but it applies only to 1% of people. 99% of people have always lived the ordinary life with ordinary phylosophical questions, not knowing their purpose, but answering it through religion, or seeking it by themselves. You said our way to success is predetermined, their was too. They didn't have an option to not be a blacksmith. Heck, most people were farmers with the same purpose in life, just to die. What about war? We live in a world of conflicts. One of conflcts is happening right at my doorstep. I'm not feeling good from it, it doesn't add stenght or purpose. It gives anger and hate, it doesn't stop you from being yourself, it's just screwing up lives of millions peoples you associate with. we're not a generation without purpose, we are a generation that can communicate with the other people across the world. That's it, there is no change except of that. People who felt there is no purpose have always existed and will exist, you can't change it.
And about argument that people have had many kids while being 20 - there are many factors to that, like: lack of education, lack of contraception, lack of economic responisbility, high rates of infant mortality, etc. It's however not connected with mental health problems we have today, as we had them all the time.

Most of us have it really good relative to our parents/grandparents. Use this opportunity and actually pursue what you want and put in the work. Life is meaningless without a purpose and you won't be fulfilled if you won't work towards your purpose and dreams.

I understand that people feel overwhelmed in the current life that we live, and its saddening that people choose to end things early. But people dont know any better, and when they wish that they were born in a different generation i honestly feel disgusted not going to lie. You can be a fat bum and get away with it (up to a certain point), in previous generations you would have to be a legitemate king in order to do that.

In my opinion we are currently in the best worst period in history, because the world is quite literally a different place every single year. You have unlimited options, but like in the video its like your brain just shuts off. Playing video games to emulate a hero you want to be, whether it be sports, science-fiction/fantasy, or in warfare, is what 90% of video games ended up becoming used as an escape from real life. And i mean, why wouldn't you? They're becoming indistinguishable from real life, and probably even better!

I would describe the current period we live in as: an awkward period. The education system is screwing people over and giving people limited beliefs, tunnelvision and it contradicts the real world which is miles ahead. Instant gratification is making people avoid doing hard things, which are actually the things that give the most fulfillment.

Right now, the responsibility is all on you! You are the one that decides the way you should live! The old system wont allow you to think for yourself, but the internet gives you all of the information you'll ever need to find your path! Once you find out what you want, the last thing left to do is to take a DEEP dive, without fear, and that dive is the biggest obstacle and why you see so many man retreat!

Honestly it is sad to see how guys at my age think there worthless if they can't get a girl or get married because society expects them to. I remember when I was 14, I almost committed suicide because of the expectations of others. It's also why I dropped dating, not only because I'm 5'5, because I hate how other people would say that getting girls should be my purpose when it really isn't and I'm gonna be completely honest, ppl who think a guy's only true purpose is getting women are literally dumb. Conditioning other guys to think in this mindset is literally not okay, It's what's killing other guys and young guys especially the ones my age. I know I'm only 19 but this is exactly why I want to quit dating forever because I don't want to become another victim.
