Video number 2 of our series exploring Jim Lee, how exciting!

Today I talk about what makes his faces so expressive, and how us mere mortals can harness that magic. Join me on this artistic adventure and let's celebrate X-Men magic together. :)

The next videos up will be hair, rendering, VFX, backgrounds and layouts in Jim Lee's style. So to tie them all together I'll be drawing a splash page, and building it using what I've (and hopefully you too!) have learned throughout this series.

Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more insights as I delve into what makes great comic art, great!

If you can, check out Jim Lee's pencils vs inked. Scott Williams is an underrated partner in his art.
You can get the Justice League graphic novel, and then get Justice League Unwrapped with just his pencils no inks or color, and compare how much Scott Williams embellishes.
I would really like to see your observations on the inks vs pencils because trying to study Jim Lee is very hard, and you seem to have a very good handle on his art.

These are great! Your breakdown style is nice and methodical. Would love to see your take on learning to draw clothes and approach to inking: )

Very informative!
It would be cool if you made a similar video about other comic artists such as: John Byrne, Mike Mignola, Frank Miller, Moebius, etc.

Watching this video made me realize how much of Jim Lee's methods i use in my own drawings. To much less splendor, but still. 😅

Having watched multiple videos and tutorials from Jim Lee himself, I learned nothing new, but that cat with a bow tie definitely deserves my like.

Jim Lee draws all his characters anatomically correct and all slim muscular toned like how everyone wants to be. And his line drawing is smooth and thin

I think a lot of the Image artists like David Finch have sharp features on the male face.
