Is the Panasonic GH4 WORTH IT in 2019?! 5 YEARS Later!

Today we're checking out the darn near 5 year old Panasonic GH4. Is it still worth getting in 2019?

Well its got specs that the rest of the mirrorless cameras only very recently obtained. 4k 30 10bit 422 out to an external recorder? Canon and Nikon JUST released cameras that can do that, while Sony still can't do it.

Its got a flip screen, great preamps, awesome image quality. Dang it sounds like it might be the perfect 4k YouTube Camera? Well is it?

Most of Panasonic cameras are really under-rated (and under-appreciated).. Their features, UI, and “fun to use” factors are well ahead of its time..

EVERYBODY always says "oh, m43's are great except for low light". Do people shoot in the dark? I mean, seriously, is that a thing? The gh4/5/7/9 will all outperform any FF from 10 years ago, maybe even 5 years ago. Have all of us turned into underground mole people that only shoot in low/no light. When I use my Sigma f1.4/G85 @ISO 400 I almost always have to crank up the ND filter to keep from blowing everything out in even normal indoor light.

Loved it, I saw a gh4+metabones+sigma setup that comes to 1500-1700$, what do you recommend for a less expensive setup using the gh4 to shoot head talks?

If I have the G7, in your opinion, is it worth it to get a GH4 so I can output to something like a Ninja V?
Don't know if there's enough of a benefit of that or if I should just stick with my G7.

ive been using the gh4 for the past 3 years and only recently upgraded to the gh5 because someone stole it (got it back) anytime I get asked what camera to get i always suggest the gh4 . Gonna get it tatted on me later this year

Totally agree. Same goes for it's little brother, the G7. It still holds up well. What other cameras in it's price class put up a legit competition? Only recent ones, if that, and nothing back when it came out.

EDD, Im glad you did this video. I purchased at GH4 (new, in-the-box from a 3rd party for $500) a few months ago as a B camera for my GH5 and have used it only once since because I’ve been learning the GH5. But I must say that the one time that I did use the GH4 I was pleasantly surprised with the simplicity of the menu, the lightness and agility of the camera and the bevy of lenses and accessories I had/have available to me since I own the GH5. I think the same “underappreciatedness” that has plagued the GH5 first plagued the GH4. But if you know how to leverage their better qualities (and they still have many compared to even some new-releases), an every day dude (tm) can really come out ahead and looking great.
