The A'-Team BL4S 2021: Searching for Dark Photons through Missing Mass and Decay Products

Meet the A’-Team!
In order of appearance: Adriana Baniecki, Caleb Alons, Josiah Alons, Amasha Perera, Joseph London, and Skylar Gaertner.
We are six homeschooled friends, united through our love of physics, and proud to represent America from states coast to coast. We aspire to be physicists, engineers, and educators and have greatly enjoyed exploring particle physics through this challenge.
Many experiments have scoured the universe for dark photons, and we are thrilled to join the hunt! In our experiment, we will search for dark photons through missing mass and decay products, using DESY’s MicroMegas trackers, the Big Red Magnet, and a Lead Crystal Calorimeter. In conducting our experiment at DESY, we hope to advance the understanding of the Standard Model, explore experiment design, and share our findings with our local communities.
