He just did a video to sort of officialize that he didn't make the brand but partner with them, so that's cool I don't think we could say he lied about it

Not a lie. It's a smart business move. Instead of starting a candy company from scratch, take over an existing small brand that already has candy manufacturing systems in place. Very smart.

He partnered with them, most likely owns a % of the company and became the face of it. They wiped the site because they're rebranding. Similiar to Logan Paul and KSI partnering with established people in the industry ( Max Clemons and Trey Steiger of Congo Brands) to create Prime. They (Logan & KSI) both only own 20% of the company but are pretty much portrayed as the sole owners of the brand to the public. Only difference is Logan & KSI partnered with an existing company to launch a new brand while Ryan partnered with an existing company, to reboot an existing brand.

i’m guessing they weren’t doing well, and so they reached out to Ryan to restart their brand.

I'm not sure he was necessarily "lying" because it is new candy for both Joyride and Ryan and he never said he was the sole owner but he is co-owner not just a "hire". The reason they may have changed their website is because they are re-branding which is a perfectly normal business practice especially for brands that may be sitting at a lull or not doing as well as they had hoped. Tbh, this seems more of a clickbait title than an actually sound investigative commentary video atm.

I was at a grocery store and I saw some joyride candy, and I was confused because Ryan didn’t put his candies in stores yet. Turns out it was the old candies.

Hopefully this goes well and doesn't create any controversy in the future cuz ryan is such an nice guy.

Technically NO ryan was not lying about anything he didnt invent a new company and never said he did BUT he said he made a new brand, a brand can just be a part of a company and this is ryan's contribution for this company

Great video. Worth noting that the $25 price tag for ryan's candies is actually for four 3.5oz bags, vs eight 1.8oz bags on amazon-- which if you work out the price per ounce is actually roughly the same. So it looks like the sour belts are basically inline with previous pricing and not marked up, which is fair and nice to see.

Still, totally agree that it would look way better if ryan hadn't lied and instead just said something like "I'm partnering with this healthy sweets company Joyride to bring you a new product we co-developed that we're super proud of." That would be way more honest and would have worked just fine imo

I agree to disagree... he didn't inform us that he was starting a new company, instead, he simply stated that its his new company brand. Hence, as he becomes an active member of the company, he is allowed to be considered apart of it. Also, the word brand does not imply company nor did he mention he launched the company, the textbook definition of brand is simply a type of product manufactured by a particular company under a particular name, which can be argued that it's "new"

This is a great video, and accurate. He absolutely said he started a company when he in fact literally just partnered with them and technically employed by them. The kids in the comment criticizing you are, well kids and maybe teens/Stan’s. They sort of go blind when anyone criticizes the object of their fan girling and I think we see that first hand. The people in the comments criticizing seem especially youthful (read: simple minded/slow) so I wouldn’t pay it any mind man

You don’t really vilify him or anything and were really rather cordial. At the end of the day people have lied for much more devious purposes and did worse. Doesn’t mean you can’t fairly call out sus behavior when you see it

Yeah i was wondering too, cause no way he would name his own first brand joyride 💀💀

i'm guessing that they restarted the brand and it was for like one of those hashtag ads

my guess on why they branded it as his was so it didnt just look like a sponsorship. most people would be much more likely to buy a youtuber product over a product indorsed by a youtuber through a sponsorship.

ok so I'm going to go on a rant. first these changes are VERY minor so it doesn't really matter. second, so what if he didn't start it, he technically DID START this specific candy from joyride. and third, he was maybe trying to imply that he started the a website that lead to HIS candy. so yeah

Dude this makes me so upset :( I love Ryan, it’s really sad to think that he wouldn’t be transparent about everything :((

Was really confused when I heard Ryan saying he started the brand because I’ve been a fan of Project 7 (now Joyride) for years. I specifically remember when I went to grab a bag of Project 7 sour worms and seeing the rebrand to Joyride. That happened a while ago. Last year I was also curious to know about the people running it and came across the owner’s LinkedIn. So being well versed in the brand I knew it was a lie right away.

I made a few videos back when he had his merch company that went under. I made the videos calling him out and got him to make the post on his instagram and twitter back then
