Homeless encampment in Oakland has neighbors anxious

Business owners and residents in one Oakland neighborhood say a growing homeless encampment is creating safety concerns. Da Lin reports.

The Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) requires that sidewalks be accessible, which means there must be a minimum clear width to get around any obstruction. However, it is far better to have obstructions out of the sidewalk entirely. A blind pedestrian is about to encounter a streetlight pole in the sidewalk.

I grew up in the Bay Area and you never could have imagined conditions would be like this. Ultimately I blame the voters who continue to vote for politicians with far-left policies that simply don't work. Shame on us.

Best decision of my life was leaving the bay after 32yrs. People say to those thinking of leaving "It's bad all over the country, the grass isn't any greener on the other side" but that was a lie! And I'm so glad I saw through it. The quality of life and opportunities outside of the bay and cali have changed my entire worldview.

In Oakland it's illegal to block the sidewalk, and it's illegal to park a vehicle in any spot on the street for more than 72 hours. The problem is they only have a couple officers to enforce those laws against thousands of violations.
