The man who is suspected of attempting to kill former US President Donald Trump has been named.

The FBI has identified the gunman as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks - he was shot and killed by the Secret Service.

Trump was shot at during a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.

Trump, who emerged with a bloodied face, said he was shot in the ear.

The FBI said they are treating the incident as an assassination attempt.

What I want to know is how the state police, fbi, and secret service missed someone on the roof of a single level manufacturing plant just 130 - 300 yards from the stage even after being told that someone was on the roof?

The reporter lying down while people are calmly strolling about reminds me of a news clip from many years back of an American reporter sitting in a little boat rowing and talking about the flooded streets, and as she does this two people just casually walk by showing that the water was merely ankle deep.
