I don't know what it is about older radios but I have noticed that the sounds from the period sound a lot better coming out of them than modern music on say, advertisements or just in general. I don't know if it's because the period stuff was recorded differently or what but I have noticed it is often true. I have a talking house transmitter though I rarely use it. The one I use most is a homemade one about the same size as a Microsoft Zune mp3 player. It only has a range of about 6 feet but that suits me as I usually have it lying beside the radio on my nightstand to listen to stuff like Fibber McGee & Molly when there's nothing on the tv at night.
