I think the Top 3 reasons I lose SR nowadays are:
1. Teammates not willing to join voice chat/coordinate. This is very annoying. People just don't wish to hatch a plan with their allies, and just end up trickling in, feeding the enemies, and dying very often. They sometimes join voice chat after we lose the game and tell us that we are trash. It's just futile to complain after the game has ended. We may have played worse than usual, but we would've stood a better chance with a cooperative team, right? People just don't get this.
2. People not respecting their teammates' mains. e.g. I am a D.Va main (only because I have to fill as tank in almost every game), but I was once matched with a D.Va main with far more experience on the hero than me, based on our profiles. I let that person go D.Va, and I picked Winston. Our dives won us the game. I don't think many people respect that. They just instalock whatever they want to play and refuse to swap a lot of times.
3. Queueing in bad situations. There are two situations I can think of. Firstly, which most people know, queueing when you're tilted. This is really really bad. When you're tilted, you're not likely to trust anybody you're matched with, and are going to see everything that happens in your game in a negative light. You're going to be more focused on your losses than your wins, and this is going to affect your gameplay in a bad manner. I've lost over 120SR in a day since I kept queueing despite being really tilted because I kept getting matched with throwers that day. The second situation, and I think people should accept this, is queueing after a major winning streak. If you've won, say, four games in a row. That is huge, since in Overwatch, winning even half your games is extremely challenging. In such a scenario, you are likely to be feeling overconfident, even though you don't realise it. Every successive game you queue for in a winning streak, you get more and more confident about the next match. If you lose it, you are likely to get tilted. This could be even worse, since you think that it's just one loss and it doesn't match up against your four wins. However, you may end up losing again and again, getting more and more tilted, and ending the session on a losing streak of eight games instead.

Someone has to lose for the other person to win.

one thing I recommend is learning to play the counter to your mains counter. so when your phara starts getting hard countered by soldier for example. you can switch to a doom or reaper and still be effective.

I have only done my placements since season 6 and this season was the one I was going to grind my way up due to Zarya, Rein and Ana being meta again.
However after 14 games I had only won 4. 3 of them were fair wins, the 4th one had a thrower on the other team. Out of those 10 losses only 4 games were balanced and the team actually tried and worked together to win.
So out of 14 games I had 7 legit games. The other 7 games were filled with people refusing to switch while playing horrible, which were mainly Widow one tricks. People not making a proper team comp, refusing to play certain hero and overall giving up if we lost the first point, which is another thing that happens a lot for some reason.

Sad truth is I will only be doing placements again until Blizzard decides to put in effort and fix something, which probably won't happen for a long time. I'm currently on my way decaying back to Diamond and totally fine with it.

The main reason right now is people throwing and not cooperating. I stopped playing comp because I’m tired of doing my best and not having others who will do the same because it’s a waste of time. I’ve nearly reached platinum so many times just to have a team of people who either don’t know what they’re doing or intentionally tried to lose the game. Until Blizzard makes changes to fix that issue I’m only going to place from now on and thats it. It’s a hard life for a support main.
