I’m using python now after 24 years of Java, and I find Java better. Python is good for smaller more focused services, AI, and to run Jupyter notebook. And the language has some nice features/shortcuts, but Java is more robust in everything else.

I remember seeing a demo of Java on Computer Chronicles back in... Oh, '94?
They had a demo running that was a cat playing drums and if you clicked on the cat he'd hit the hi-hat or something. They were really excited about the fact that the demo was running on a PC and then they loaded the exact same script onto a Mac and it did the same thing.

My roommate wasn't impressed cuz he wasn't much of a computer guy but my friend and I sat there in amazed silence that they didn't have to change anything to make the demo run.
