It radiates from Kyle and Laura how much they love him. David is such a sweet genious.

That was unlike the most pretentious speech tributes you find these days. It was so real and perfectly imperfect.

EVERYONE remembers the first time they saw a David Lynch film.

This was very Lynchian; weird, slightly uncomfortable, sweet, funny.

Who doesn't remember when he polled votes for Laura Dern's best actress consideration with a cow and a sign, sat on the sidewalk

The Oscar Academy: Elaborate on that

Honestly, Laura and Kyle could have broken down sobbing during this tribute and I would have completely understood. This must've been so very emotional and sentimental and stirring for them to do. They really maintained composure, and focused on the deep abiding love they have for this great man.

Nobody paints cinematic imagery and sounds like David Lynch has done during his career in film and TV. He revels in creating a place where there's such intense beauty, such stark evil and danger, such whimsical comedy, and such tantalizing mystery. I am proud and grateful to live in a world that is lucky enough to have the gift of his films and television programs.

My heart was in tears when I saw DL's eyes watered!, a very wonderful creative individual and finally honored!

Kyle has aged so well here. And I love how unabashedly honest and spontaneous this speech is. Just speaking from the heart. David is an amazing man and it's great how positive everyone's experiences with him are.

David will be always in our minds and in our hearts! He's not only two or three things, like Kyle and Laura made clear, he is a visionary. He's that kind of light that shines immensely bright to everyone that gets to know him and his work. Congrats, our hero!!

Lynch deserves this award 100 times over. Seeing Mulholland Dr for the first time at 16 years old literally changed my life forever. Shame Jack Nance couldn’t be there to present as well. RIP.

Lynch is the only director you can never forget the first time you've watched his movies.

John Hurt, Richard Farnsworth, Dennis Hopper and many more who are no longer with us would be smiling at David Lynch.

Congratulations, David, on an honor well earned. I met David several times through the years and was always astonished by his gentle and calming personality even when recalling a story of when he got lost in a morgue in Philadelphia and discovering the smiling bags of death. I was at his art opening at the Castelli Gallery in NYC and I was, once again, amazed at his creativity. David is America’s gift to the world and he is truly a gift to the arts. Bravo, David, on receiving an award that was a long time coming and so well deserved.

David Lynch, Park Chan Wook, Miike Takashi.
These three directors have changed my life.
Lynch's work is absolutely transcendental.
