Creating a character? Try dressing up and living the role!

Writing and creating a new character, is very like acting – you have to play the part to inhabit the character you are creating.

Last night I arrived at a really exciting scene in my new book. A plane was nose diving over the ocean. What was going to happen? What would my hero do? I was so wrapped up in the story - like I was there - that the hours just flew by and I was surprised when Mrs Rayner called me in from the Studio!

Why not go the whole hog and dress up as your character? Or at least surround yourself with props to make you feel part of the story.
