2017 Hyundai Sonata Limited 2.0T | Road Test & Review

The family sedan. A white hot segment with manufacturers jumping through hoops to grab your attention. Just how well does the 2017 Hyundai Sonata stack up in this race? Let's find out.

Three engines grace the Sonata for 2017, all of them 4 cylinders; a 2.4L naturally aspirated unit starts us off with 185hp & 178lb-ft torque. Move on up to the 2.0T and receive the benefits resulting form a twin-scroll turbocharger - output is a very healthy 245hp & 260lb-ft torque. In the same Theta II family is the Sonata Eco boasting a 1.6L turbo engine pumping 178hp & 195lb-ft torque.

Both the 2.4 & 2.0T are mated to a 6 speed automatic, the 1.6T gets a 7-speed dual clutch automatic. The setup on the 1.6T bumps the Sonatas fuel economy yielding up to 36MPG on the highway.

Regardless of which model suits you best, all Sonata come standard with lots of equipment packed inside and out. Automatic projector beam headlights, alloy wheels, touchscreen audio with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, a rearview camera, keyless entry with alarm and Bluetooth® hands-free phone/audio all come standard on every Sonata that rolls off the factory line - making this sedan one heck of a deal.

If that isn't enough equipment, Hyundai has you covered with the Limited edition. Heated and cooled power front seats, heated rear seats, window shades, panoramic moon roof, an Infinity 10 speaker 400watt sound system, blind spot detection, smart cruise control, projector HID dynamic bending headlights, proximity key and so much are all checked off on the Limited, which is available with both the 2.4 and 2.0T engines to best suit your needs.

But how does it drive? In a word - well. As tested, the Limited 2.0T has the heart to hurl you towards the finish line and keep going well past it. The steering is direct and linear with an easy and relaxed highway demeanor. Road, tire and wind noise are all muffled very well whether on the highway or a back road. The suspension soaks up road irregularities extremely well giving excellent feedback as to what is happening at each well without jarring the passengers inside.

Load up the trunk with its 16.3 cu. ft of space, pile in your passengers who will appreciate all of the niceties for them to enjoy and head off on your journey knowing you have a 10/100K mile warranty backing you the whole way. Really, what more could you want!

Informative video.. P.S - Our 2014 Sonata limited 2.0T has 274 hp!! - it can move, not sure why? Hyundai decided to drop to 245 hp?

A couple years ago several Hyundai dealers were hit by thieves in the night. They stole the rims off Sonata Limiteds and Sante Fe Sport top trim models.
When the thieves start stealing your rims you know you've got a hot product. LOL
I just bought a new 2018 Sonata SEL. It came with locking wheel lugs.

I am torn between the new 2018 model and the older 2017 style. Love the old body style and sun roof more, but I really really like the new secret trunk button, as well as keyless fob. What's your opinion?

I have the same model but 2015 and I love it. Excellent car with all the accessories that have the limited 2.0T sport. Love the white color that you used in this video (mine is black and I don't like at all)

Beautiful car, only one problem: after a month of ownership the moon roof will start making creaking noises, it's insanely disturbing, hyundai has NO fix for this, my car has been at the dealership for a month already and they can't figure it out.
