If you're visiting Iceland in September for the northern lights, just keep in mind that it's going to be rainy, so there is a chance for the sky to not be clear at all. We travelled last month for 8 days and even though the sky is clear during the daytime, it somehow gets stuffed every single night. Never got to see the northern lights from land, but got a good glimpse from our flight, above all the clouds.

Hey everyone! I must clarify something - When it comes to how busy September is, it depends on where you go. You can still expect crowds at the most famous places, especially at the south coast of the island and around the ring road. More on that in my upcoming video. 🙏

Really enjoying your videos🤗My husband and I will be there mid September and can’t wait. You have been very informative and good natured😊 We live in a tourist place as well (Maine) and there is good and bad in all seasons for sure. Cheers!

You are 100% correct. My favorite time. Already making plans for next year.

Actually I disagree, May is the best time. It is the least rainy month. Snow is still on the mountains and the crowds have yet to come. Getting a rental car/van is cheaper (check for yourself) and of course flights are less expensive as well.

Hello! We are planing our trip to Iceland in September (26 august to 10 sep) and we are wondering about the idea of sleep in a Dacia, any you recommendations? Maybe we freeze inside the car ❄️

Is Sept past the midge/fly season in the Myvatn region or do we still need head nets?

Thanks for sharing! I'm actually in the planning stages and have to decide between early August or early September. I figured September is probably better and your video confirmed it :) I do hope to see the northern lights though, this would be the main reason (even though we've seen them before).

Jan, I'm planning a trip to Iceland in September, but I have a question. In the first week of September, is it still all green? We're lookig for that green lush landscapes. Planning to go from 30th Aug. to 9th Sept.

And what about the last week of Sept? Is it already "golden"? Thank you!

Interesting pespective. !Thanks for that. The lights and the contrast were extraordinary. I liked it. The risk factor is the weather. I mean I can bear cold weather but I like landscapes and views. The argument with aurora is for me challenging because I like that long day as well. I visited Iceland in June and enjoyed that amazing long days very much. Thank you Jan!

So Northern Lights are possible to see on September? Are there ice caves already? I am debating on going on September, October or November, which month would you recommend?

Jan, great video. My favorite is August because of Culture Night, pride week and parade, and great weather! So many sunny days. I was there from late July to late August (and another August a few years ago). However Iceland is great any time. What a special country, so much to do always, and wonderful people. Everyone should go at least once.

What do you think about the month of April? Planning a trip for next year, but maybe I should change it to September!
