I think the problem isn't superhero fatigue it's a decline in quality and a lack of taking risks, movies like the Batman have proven that people can still be excited by new superhero movies, but right now the MCU seems more inclined to get back to a big overarching plot as soon as possible than they are with making quality content.

I think it's less to do with the genre in of itself but more with the fact that everything is made by the same studio, with the same formula.
Any creative idea gets cut by corporate in case it could lower profit margins and hence it all turns into same-y shlock.

The thing I've been wondering about Supehero movies as compared to Westerns and Musicals, two genres that were huge and then largely disappeared, is did people just get tired of Westerns and Musicals or did Westerns and Musicals make such reliable bank that studios kept pushing them out and stopped worrying so much about the quality, which I feel is a lot of what we are seeing with Marvel. somebody who is a film historian should figure this out and tell me.

I’d have to agree. Although people have been saying superhero movie fatigue since 2010! I think the idea is a little more true than before but they’ve had a longer lasting mainstream appeal than westerns now!

I'm sad to see superhero movies decend into bad rep after the pandemic because of rushed, lazy writing and cgi.. There could have been so much potential out there.. But yeah, all good things must come to an end

I've been tired of superhero movies before endgame was even out. 💀 (spider-man is the exception, but spider-man has always been my favourite, even before mcu was a thing)

It’s not really superhero movies, it’s marvel movies. All the recent dc movies and shows have been great, I’m super excited for that new transformers movie, it’s basically just marvel.

The weird thing is... I kinda prefer the new superhero movies and how they are written to older ones. I loved Love and Thunder, Quantumania was really decent and Multiverse of Madness is one of my new favorite Marvel movies.
