For the people who’ve read the comics and watched the show, it seems there are a lot of people who dislike both versions, but this video is specifically referring to people who hate her in the show yet think she’s good in the comic

Mark: My Dad killed a shit load of people using my face as a weapon, beat me within an inch of my life, called my mom a “pet” and was planning enslave man kind.
Amber: Yeah. I guess we’ve both had it equally bad with what you’ve gone through with your dad and what I went through with you saving lives instead of spending time with me.

How dare you destroy an asteroid and potentially save 1000s of people when you were supposed to help me in the soup kitchen

Amber in the show...

- Goes from understandable complaints to starting fights and making ultimatums that reflect very poorly on her after she reveals being aware of Mark's powers.

- Simultaneously pushes for him to help people in need while being very unforgiving when he does so several times at the expense of dates and personal time. Most notably when a college and his best friend are at risk, which nearly gets the latter killed.

- Rejects Mark for being what he is simply because he didn't tell her—despite a pattern of being angry with him over the exact things she expected him to confess.

- Only shows Mark any real support after he essentially loses his father, both physically and in spirit.

Yeah. No, I have no idea why anyone calls her self-centered and unlikable at all.

It's because when he gives her the reason for him not being around her reply is "I know your a superhero and not actually abandoning me, you just never told me." On both types of Amber, bad gf character. One for being a cheater, one being a bitch

Show amber knew who mark was, comic amber had to find out. That’s why. When she was frustrated in the comics, it was a bit more reasonable since mark was a normal man to her, but amber was selfish and knew that mark was a superhero

Because the show goes out of its way to excuse her and freaks out all the time

Amber in the show knew that Mark was Invincible when he "abandoned" her to put on his costume but still got mad at him for it to gaslight him

She has no personality in the comics but has a toxic personality in the show...

Amber says she figured out Mark is Invincible a few weeks ago then that begs the question why did she get angry at him for leaving her during the robot attack when they went to school or college I don't remember while he was saving people as Invincible? this just shows how self centred and manipulative she is

People don't like show Amber because she's basically "I've known your Invincible sense the start and your going out to save people's lives that are currently in danger but I breaking up with you cause you didn't show up to help a soup kitchen that I go help at."

She's just so abrasive. She complains about him noy being with her enough and not doing things for other people, whilst at the same time apparently she knew he was invincible all along?

Amber in the comics actually feels the consequences of her actions. She leaves Mark, a man she's in love with to be with an abuser. Amber in the show however is clearly written to never have a single bad thing happen to her. There are no consequences to making Mark feel disgusted with himself or diminishing the weight of his trauma. I hope he moves on to Eve quickly, next season maybe.

the problem is that she also diminishes the weight of his trauma by only caring after she had to see what he does. Before that she couldn't have cared about him almost dying or his best friend almost dying right in front of him. And she still tries to cheat just like comic Amber. She's also written as a character with no consequences whatsoever. Nothing bad happens when she essentially says that she should've been spending time with her when William is being actively tortured, AFTER the fact, when she has all the details. Amber in the comics is just a bad person who made a bad mistake and it put her in an abusive relationship (consequences), and it also make Mark realize he shouldn't be with someone normal (character development) hence, he realizes Eve is more important to him than he realized (mark learns from it). Show Amber does nothing for Mark. She's written as a super smart character with no flaws, so she must have researched Invincible right? Meaning that while he was "supposed to be at the soup kitchen" she would've realized and seen pictures of his mangled arm, his caved ribcage and Black Samson's disfigured, well everything. And after all that, still chastised him. That's what's wrong with Amber, she's an omniscient deity who never ever realizes other people have emotions until it suits her selfishness. Thank god she's an ephemeral character, else they'd need to severely ret-con multiple scenes to keep her in the show. Without her basically being an antagonist.

The main difference is that Show Amber figured out that Mark is Invincible before the break up at ep 6. Meaning she did all the 'Where were you!? Eve was wrong about you and so was I!' stuff while KNOWING that Mark was the costumed guy fighting the zombie robot RIGHT INFRONT OF HER. Then when she said that she knew and that Mark made her feel stupid and unimportant made her look very narcissistic and selfish, despite being portrayed as a very patient girlfriend. Not helping her case is that Eve and William made it seem to be Mark's fault, as if he was wrong to risk his life to save other people's lives at the expense of time with her.

It's as if the show either want the audience like Amber by painting her as this saint for us to love.

or

try to make us not like her and support Mark x Eve instead.

You dead wrong man amber in the show didn’t make sense stating how she already knew and was mad at him for not telling earlier even though they hadn’t been dating all to long she wanted him to tell her something that puts not only herself in danger but his friends and her family ( im pretty sure mark’s would be fine) it’s pretty ridiculous unlike in the comic where she did get upset didn’t leave him and actually at least understood why mark couldn’t just spout it out at will

You're forgetting that important bit of knowledge in the show Amber knew that Mark was a superhero which makes her actions infinitely less likable

Because Amber in the show is a know-it-all she's always right. she damnds everybody else admit they're wrong and every time you do something no matter what it is she's always pissed about it. Whereas in the comic she's a more kind caring compassionate person.

Amber in the comic never betrayed Mark. When something was about to happen, she stopped it and wanted to break it off with Mark first (btw Mark did kiss Eve before breaking up with Amber). And in the end, they mutually broke up because they couldn’t be there fore each other the way they wanted, decided to stay as friends and actually wanted each other to be happy

Comic book Amber cheated on Mark after he was gone for like what? 8 months or so in space? That’s not exactly the same as show Amber who got pissed just because he’s out there saving lives. Comic book Amber has legitimate and relatable flaws for wanting someone else because she feels the crushing loneliness of having a superhero boyfriend who’s constantly gone for months at a time.
