Ecology and Evolution of Invasive Mosquito Disease Vectors
Показать описание
Malaria and Dengue fever, two of the most troublesome diseases to plague humanity, are spread by both the Yellow Fever (Aedes aegypti) and Asian Tiger (Aedes albopictus) mosquitoes. Asian Tiger mosquito is considered one of the world's most invasive species and has recently displaced Yellow Fever mosquitoes over most of their United States range. This presentation describes interspecific interactions and trait evolution associated with encounters in nature between the two species. Effects of larval competition on dengue transmission in nature are also discussed.
