I have to say, that’s the coolest origin story for a lighthouse, that I’ve ever heard. Imagine exposing that you need a lighthouse, for the soul purpose of making sure illegal trading ships, don’t run into each other.

Hi Im a Faroese person! It makes me glad that our history and culture becoming more wide spread and accurately told. :) I saw you mention Nólsoyar Páll. Fun fact, he has a statue in centrum of Tórshavn by the harbor! Our currency has the exact same value and name as the danish krone. You can use danish and faroese currency in Faroe Islands, however in Denmark you cannot use faroese currency (really sucks). Our coins are still the exact same as the danish.

During my years of education, I've had some Faroese classmates, their Danish language is impeccable, even less dialect than you find at the west coast of Jutland. If it wasn't for letters like ð in their names, you'd not notice that they were from the Faroe Islands.

Sharing kingdom with these tough but friendly people is an honour. I'm happy that an agreement was reached that was acceptable to both.

I really like the subjects you pick for your videos. They're not too known and sometimes even obscure

This was a very interesting video! I’m Danish myself, but for some reason I never received any education about the Faroese Islands, which is a damn shame. I’m glad to have learnt a good deal, even if it’s through a little bite size video. Thanks!

The Faroese are an independent and proud people who stand guard over the Nordic heritage. As a Dane, I am proud of them

You pronunciation of Tórshavn is quite close to how we say it in the Faroes, but as with all English-speaking people you pronounce the _sh_ sound, which is wrong. You separate the _s_ from the _h_ so that it's Tórs havn, _towrs hown, _ as in Thor's harbour/haven.

Excellent video, nonetheless. I love that our little archipelago is getting some recognition. Just the fact that our islands appear on maps is a huge thing for me. We used to not be on most maps, so we were invisible to people who weren't knowledgeable about the region.

Thank you! Very interesting twist you made. Not exactly what I had in mind when I wanted a Dansh colonitation video but still very wel recieved my friend. Can you make a meme video about the Tyttebærkrigen 1788 or in Swedish Teaterkriget and English Theatre War. It's pretty funny reading and a completely redicules part of the much greater Russo-Swedish War (1788–1790)

And the British soldiers brought Cadbury chocolate, the custom of afternoon tea (currently drinking Typhoo tea) and the replacement word for farvæl (goodbye) with bye.

More videos on danish history please ! Would love to see a video explaining Denmarks place in the world after the viking ages and how it evolved over time. The colonial past of Denmark, it’s relations with the rest of the world, it’s military strength throughout the ages, other countries view of Denmark as a power, it’s complicated history with other scandinavian countries, and how it evolved into Social Democracy.

Nólsoyar Pall seems like a true Chad. 😄
And the Feroes are so pretty it ought to be illegal.

BTW the Feroes are actually called _Wyspy Owcze_ in Polish, which is literally means "sheep islands". I wondered if it's the case in some other languages.
