Sleep training made easy with the Ferber Method!

First and foremost, This method is not for everyone, if it causes parents too much stress or anxiety you do not have to do it. The goal of the method is to teach the child to self sooth with reminders that “mommy and daddy are always here.” It is not meant to just let the child cry it out, or to be cruel. Use your best judgement, no one knows your child better than you.

With that said, Almost all parents of young infants are in need of more sleep.

In this video, we REVIEW a popular sleep training method, the Ferber Method. The Ferber Method teaches babies to self-soothe by allowing the child to cry for a predetermined amount of time before receiving brief comfort from the parents to remind the child they are not alone. Overtime these intervals slowly increase.

We discuss the reasons why sleep training is beneficial for the health of both the infant and the family unit.

Sleep training will ultimately lead to better quality, consistent sleep for your child which is necessary for proper infant growth and development. And adequate sleep in adults is linked to lower levels of anxiety, stress and proper weight management.

We also review why the best age to sleep train a baby is between 4-6 months of age, when infants are capable of self soothing but before they can sit up.

Check out our video on sleep training using the Ferber Method!

Did this with both my kids. My daughter was a hard nut to crack but by 12-15 months she was sleeping 10 hours just fine. Now she's 3 y 8 m and is still a great sleeper. My son is now 8 months and I went from co sleeping and waking every 2-4 hours for feeding to sleeping alone in his crib for 11 hours in just 2 days with this method. The first night was painfully horrible. The second night he seems to understand a little better. The third night it was as if he discovered how wonderfully glorious a good, long peaceful sleep is. I set him in his crib, he makes himself comfortable and goes to sleep. I am so relieved. I wake up the next morning ready to be the best parent I can be. 10000% needed. Naysayers just don't know better 💯

Did this method with my son two years ago. Was sleep trained in two days. Starting tonight with my 6 month old. She’s been waking up every two hours to comfort feed so I’m EXHAUSTED. Wish me luck! Thank you guys for your video

I just tried the "no cry" method and it made my baby worse. It was to stay in the room with her, but to her it was like 'why are you here but not interacting with me'. so I switched the method I was using mid way during a sleep session and did this and my baby went down after the third check in. And she wasn't crying as hard either. Each baby is different and I can already tell my baby likes this one more.

I’m honestly so so shocked. I already notice a huge difference in my 1 year old son. Let me just say a few things before anyone thinks I’m jumping the fence here lol:
My son is FULLY breastfed. All throughout the day and all throughout the night. He wakes up about 4-6 times a night to breastfeed and throughout the day he is always following me around and BEGGING at my knees for a feed about every 1-2 hours. My milk production has kept up with his needs of breast milk.
This method however has calmed him down about bedtime. After 2 times of doing the 10 minute intervals he’s quieted down quite a bit and has gone to sleep on his very own for the first time. Im IN LOVE with this method. Thanks so much for this helpful video!!!

Listened to so many videos but this is the only one ( to second Mandi P’s comment) which gave my wife and myself confidence to follow Ferber method...usually most videos asks to buy their guide or etc etc ...it seems like these souls just wanna help the struggling parents 🙌 May God bless you

I know this is kind of off topic, but this really sheds light on why long periods of parent leave can improve health outcomes. As a teacher, I get 4 weeks of paid maternity leave. So hard to go back to work when the baby is so little!

Hi there. Thank you for this video. A few quick questions: 1. If the baby is crying because of gripe or gas, do we pick the baby up or not to relieve them? 2. When we go in for the 2 or so minutes to let the baby know we are around, do we stay until the baby has calmed down or do we only stay for a couple of minutes and leave whether the baby has calmed down or not?

This is going to work for some people, and not for others. Then, for all those it works for they are going to tell everyone "Woohoo, do sleep training" but actually, babies are not robots, and this method just won't work for all. A good teacher presents all/both sides of a subject.

Can I just say, THANK YOU, I feel like everywhere I’ve tried to look for advice on how to sleep train they always give a good explanation of what self soothing is but never HOW to teach it!

It will break my heart seeing bubba crying to sleep. It’s not my cup of tea 🍵 I rather be there for my child.

Hiscock led one of the few long-term studies on the topic. It's a randomized controlled trial — the gold standard in medical science — with more than 200 families. Blogs and parenting books often cite the study as "proof" that the cry-it-out method doesn't harm children. But if you look closely, you quickly see that the study doesn't actually test "cry it out." Instead, it tests two other gentler methods, including the camping out method.

What about naps during the day? Would you recommend doing the same process or is it ok to let them sleep in your arms/lap during the day?

Thank you. Subscribed to your channel as the video was to the point. No unnecessary talking, no beating around the bush or asking to join a sleep training course etc etc
