Hi Dave, Huawei's Android home screen is the menu, there isn't any sub menus to see, that's also on the P2 and the P6, lets says its there HTC sence or Touchwiz UI overlay, which nobody who owns others android devices will understand Huawei UI

That Huawei Ascend Mate is a nice looking phone Dave! In your future review please focus on the video-playback features, like video-file-support, and subtitle support. This kind of big phone with SD-card support looks excellent for watching downloaded videos.

I think you could use nova launcher or any launcher of your choice....

An alternative launcher can always be installed from play store, and that overcomes that issue. I myself never like any stock launcher, not even android stock one, due to lack of options. I prefer to install Nova launcher, which has stock andoid's launcher look but with plenty more options even on the free version.

It might be running a miui rom, in which case it doesn't have an app drawer in the standard launcher. The do the iOS style, all icons on the screen.

It's huawei's ui called emotionUI it's made especially like that so no app drawer

Obviously a competitor to the Galaxy Mega 6.3, but then the question becomes "why"? Both seem to have lower everything, screen resolution, performance, brightness...it's like it's all about the screen size. Looks heavy as well.
