My First Experience With BFS Fishing (MULTIPLE BIG BASS!)

BFS, or Bait Finesse Style, is something I am completely new to! I have been using traditional casting & spinning gear for years but I kept hearing more and more about BFS recently so I had to give it a shot. Fortunately, after putting a post out on social media, I heard from a couple of YOU!

Micah sold me this Shimano Aldebaran BFS XG / Shimano Sensilite combo. Mark sold me a Fishband GH100. Both of these setups are going to be EXCELLENT! I want to eventually get a 5 - 6' Ultralight Casting Rod for the Fishband. I will likely get it on Aliexpress at some point. Stay tuned for that.

Clearly, based on the multiple big bass I caught in this video, you can see that I am going to like BFS very much! Honestly, I am super stoked about the fact that I am actually an ambidextrous angler and was able to switch effectively to a LH reel. Stay tuned for more Bait Finesse Style in the future!

As you all know, I am really trying to embrace light line fishing. BFS will be another part of that. Ultralights are extremely fun too, so they will definitely not be replaced anytime soon :D

At 6:20, that was so cool how the bass just kinda sat there for a second after shaking the hook, and then took off like a rocket!

Hey Ethan, today is the first chance I've had to watch your latest video. The commute from my couch to my kitchen is getting crazy. In fact, there was a two-cat pile up yesterday that delayed my arrival. It was pretty serious too; the black one rolled over, and the grey one was leaking gas.

Hey there. I absolutely love your channel. And personally looking foward to see you use more of this type of BFS setup. Im also trying to start BFS myself and would love to learn more from your channel. 🤘

I found your channel about a week ago and I've been looking into building a BFS rod (I usually build fly rods) and you upload this video. Thanks for the vid!

I started watching this yesterday stopped because I was on my way to the lake and after fighting the snags barely getting my crankbait back I changed spots them blew my line up in one of my favorite light line set ups.... Got a few bites fingers went numb went home with some work to do.

I’ve got a Tsurinoya dark wolf ultra that has a clicker drag and it’s really great. Cast super light lures with no issues!

This is great man. Just started doing some pond ned rig fishing myself, right there in the fun zone with you. Even if they are 1-#ers or less, going out and catching 4, 5, 6+ fish at a time is a good time. I was thinking about jumping in myself.

I have a budget Tsurinoya set up and a couple of ebay bfs rods...of course one is around 5ft! Had lots of fun with it last year

I have fished spinning and fly gear with left hand retrieve for years. I am right handed. I have never liked casting with my right hand, then shifting the rod to my left to reel with my right. Right hand retrieve on casting reels is a holdover from the early days of primitive fishing reels, and awkward if you think about it.

Great video Ethan! If you decide to put the Exciting Drag Sound (Clicker) in your Aldebaran can you share the installation with us! Thanks and stay healthy your extra videos helps a lot!

Definitely a future purchase for me! I have a bfs reel but no rod for it yet so I just use it for small jerkbaits!

Love that sensilite rod. I need to put another reel back on it.

i'm considering going lefthanded baitcaster. it seems more logical, using two hands is not optional, but with right hand you cast with one hand then pass the rod to the other to free of the right hand again for reeling, which is a step you skip with a left hand caster., cast right, reel left. the clicker in a reel (well actually ther is normally two, one for when you turn the knob and one for when it feeds out line (both tend to just be little metal tabs that makes a noise with no actual contribution to the function.

The Aldebaran BFS does have a click drag. At least the '16 version. BFS with Ned rig... perfect together.

BFS fishing is super fun but you want to probably use lighter line. That 15 braid could possibly deform the spool if you try to horse a fish in or pull off a snag
